Today's dailies are brought to you by Lesley, Melody, Team R&B and a small group of old friends. 💕 Lesley's Ka'ena update is part two of the dailies.
Team R&B was out searching the outfall and spotted a seal foraging in the outfall. It was good ole' fish thief Kaale RH32 back from where he's been hiding. This is not an ideal location for him or any of the seals, but Kaale has become infamous and the fishermen know him. Kaale is in good health, eating some fish. His N7 bleach and tag was visible.
While watching out for Kaale they spotted another seal coming in. Kaale approached the other seal and
the two of them get into it. Lots of splashing, hind flippers thrashing. The other seal pass in front of Team R&B and they see it's Benny RE74. They spot the yellowish lining around his eyes and his facial scars. The fighting stopped, and Benny takes off with Ka'ale following him out to sea.
No matter where they looked today they never found any other seals. They went back to a west side spot and found the fat green male aka Kaale snoozing to the right. He was there resting after he relieved himself. Team R&B hung out for over an hour hoping that Benny might show up, but he didn't.
Melody was with Kaiwi and Loli'i today and was surprised to find Kolohe RW22 on the beach. He never bothered Mom and pup being a perfect gentleman. Kaiwi and P02 were very active today getting in at least three swim sessions today. Towards the end of the day P02 protected and didn't want to go, but Mom kept barking and he finally gave in to join her. (Melody will send video tomorrow). Kolohe left the beach about 3 pm and Kaiwi and Loli'i returned to the beach to settle in.
Along with Melody and Gamma Gayle watching over Kaiwi and P02, the Aunties showed up. That
would be Tammy, Diane and me. It was a wonderful time being with old and new friends and all of us lovingly watching over Kaiwi and her pup. The volunteers certainly have their hands full, as it gets busy with lots of curious folks, but for some of us old timers it felt good to sit back and enjoy the beautiful day.P02 is getting really big, and he was very vocal today, which made us all laugh together. We were happy to see handsome Kolohe behaving himself. But one of the real treats was Melody pointing out a baby Tern (Mano-o-Ku) What a sweet little creature!
