05/10/2021 Monday Monk Seal Dailies

Today's dailies are brought to you by Team R&B💕.  Also I received an email and a text from some old posse pals that forwarded photos of two seals on Ft. Hase Beach on the Marine Base.

I don't have much detail but two seals were at Ft. Hase Beach today and based on information provided plus a little checking to blog history I was able to confirm one seal was KC RK28 and female R7GM who was first seen on Oahu in 2017. She was last seen in October 2020 at Ka'ena Point. She is originally from Kauai. So my question is did are the girls hanging out on Oahu before heading to Kauai, or did they just arrive from Kauai.

Team R&B first spotting of the day were seals swimming out of the outfall

towards Electric Beach and one swimming to tracks. They were able to ID one as da Benny RE74 and the other as RN14 Kalani. At that point they checked the beaches and neither had hauled out but were seen fighting off of Kahe and then left completely.  On a later check they did find fat boy RN14 Kalani hauled up on the rocks.

Team R&B got a call from a friend saying a seal had just hauled out by her house. They headed over and there on shore sound asleep was little Kai RM31. He is getting quite green and thankfully his tags were visible and he showed off his belly. He appears to be just fine, healthy with no new wounds or markers. The little guy had the beach to himself.

Then they were treated to a nice surprise when they went to the bay. They found Kekoa RK72 with Lei Ola RH48. They haven't seen Kekoa since the winter and hadn't seen him at this location before. He is looking big and healthy.  Lei Ola RH48 was next to him and they seemed quite compatible and no interaction. He moved up closer to her, and she just looked at him almost like flirting and he didn't mind.
