October 11, 2026 Sunday's Dailies

Today's dailies are brought to you by Team R&B💕

Out on the west side they were happy to find Miss Kala RH76 back in her spot. She was alone and resting peacefully.  They spoke with a really nice woman visiting from the mainland, who had been watching Kala. They took the time and filled her in all about Kala, and she was grateful.

It took a lot of searching for this little guy, but one last stop paid off.
There was RV20 sound asleep high up on shore. Looking so cute.  Team R&B didn't stay long as they didn't want to draw attention to him.

The dolphins passed and noticed one smaller dolphin endlessly jumping. As they watched they saw he had a Remora stuck to his face, poor little guy. They weren't sure if he got rid of it, either way he'll have a scar.

Over by the outfall they spotted a green seal, no ID and only one photo. There was another seal with a clean coat but was in a hurry so they didn't get a photo of it. Both were in the area not foraging but traveling fast. Before they knew it the seals were gone.

Next stop was to check on R407 Kawika. They were thrilled to find him there and further down. They're not sure how much longer he'll stay in the area, but Team R&B are enjoying every minute. He is one cool dude.
A man came from the cabins asking about the seal. They told him that he's been there for several days molting. He said his kids were just there, and Team R&B said yes there are their footprints. Team R&B was nice enough to tell him some information on Kawika.  Also Kawika had two plovers visiting him today.

They made on last stop at Makaha and there were no seals. Lots of folks on shore and in the water with big waves and boogie boards.  The best part was lots of turtles in the water and three on shore. Always fun to watch the turtles graze on limu, and getting washed off the reef by the waves.

October 6, 2026 Tuesday's Dailies

Todays dailies are brought to you by Team R&B💕

Starting their day on the west side they met a man walking his dog and he told them there was a little seal on shore. Of course they hurried over to find RV20 Pohaku. They discovered later in the day while watching over him that he is missing a digit on left fore flipper.
One homeless person went right over to talk story with the seal. Team R&B was far away to say anything to them.  RV20 was still there later in the afternoon near sunset.

Their next find was the lovely Miss Kala RH76. She is still at the zen pond. She was alone and resting peacefully.
Then they spotted a couple of seals foraging. Lei Ola RH48 was in a hurry, and that might have to do with molting Nalu R3CX chasing her. She dodged him many times, but the bugga caught up with her and doen they both went.  Then they noticed a third seal, clean coat, sub-adult size, clean snout, scar near the right eye, but not sure of tags. This seal was reported as an Unknown Sub-adult.

Over by electric beach they saw two row boats, men in the water and they were laying nets, picked them up and then lay the nets again.  There were two seals out there, one had a lot of green and the other had a clean coat. No IDs were made.

They went to check on R407 Kawika. He was still in the same spot molting. For some reason he was very vocal today.

Team R&B went back to check on Kala but she was gone. There wasa "netter" at the pond where she had been.  They did see a young seal, when they heard the kids yelling Seal!! the seal is coming. The young seal swimming along the jetty then to a school of fish. The fishers were out tossing their lines. The seal went back to the jetty where the kids were jumping into the water, the seal didn't seem to mind. Team R&B could not make an ID.

October 3, 2026 Saturday's Dailies

Todays dailies are brought to you by Marilyn and Team R&B💕

Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 12:54 to 3:13 pm and there were four seals seen during that time.
Alone on the berm of LPB was weaner RV76: large weaner size, two red tags and female belly.
On the 1BS side of LPB nearer the water were two seals:
Sub-adult Female: sub-adult to small adult size, new coat, female belly, no tags that could be seen. Nearby was RV50: older weaner size, yellow female belly, applied N81 bleach and three tags.
About 50 feet Makapuu side of the 3BS was a Juvenile Unknown: larger juvenile size, new coat, no info on sex or tags.

Out on the west side Team R&B were happy to find Miss Kala RH76. She came in cautiously and then went to her nesting area and settled. She was alone without her beau.

From afar they saw there was a big seal on shore at Makaha. So they headed over to find R3CX Nalu, and he is molting away. They did a recheck later in the afternoon and he was still there resting.

At electric beach they saw a seal coming out of the outfall headed to the shore, landed and kept looking around. Then the seal turned around and left. A group of people hurried over to get a picture of the seal. Team  R&B believe this was RP28 Wakea, but he disappeared before they could be sure.

Off the outfall was an adult with clean coat, at least one tag and the seal never landed. Perhaps that's what RP28 was looking for when he landed.  They also noted this seal has a scar on the right of its head. Maybe Aukai?

Next they headed over to Nimitz to check, especially since there were so many poles set up yesterday and today. There was R407 Kawika had just arrived and placed himself
under one of the poles per the fisherman. One of the other guys told them there was a second seal so Team R&B went looking.
Sure enough there was another seal. It was Huakai KG89 on shore far from R407. Guess plains was too crowded for her. No one was bothering her at all which is a nice change of pace.

They decided to make a late check on Kala because they realized after they left she was starting her molt. When they arrived near her was the green RM31 Kai. They were happy to see the two of them together. Both moved way inland for the night together again.
