All they had time for today was to check out the four seals at the bay.  In a little pond there were two big seals together side by side. They were identified as Kala RH76 and Nalu R3CX. Seems Mr. Nalu is very very protective of Miss Kala.

To their right was a green RL08. He was trying so hard to get with Kala, but Nalu kept barking at RL08. Finally he moved a bit more to the right and settled in.

A fourth seal arrived, it was a smaller one. It turned out to be a curious

RM31 Kai. Next to the others he looked like a pup. He didn't approach any of them, he just went right to sleep by RL08.

They ended their day by watching lots of dolphins playing. And if that wasn't enough they spotted little RQ24. He was alone and his is looking green, perhaps a molt is to come sometime soon.

Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 1:20 to 2:50 and there were only the 2023 kids and Mom on island today.

On LPB RB12 Sadie and PO4 (day 41) were having a nursing session when she arrived. Then there was a snooze session. At about 2:05 PO4 headed for the water without Mom noticing. PO4 entered the water about 2:07 while momma Sadie was still snoozing. About 10 minutes later Sadie finally realized the pup was missing and headed to the water's edge and apparently was barking. Sadie entered the water and a few minutes later was reunited with PO4. They were still in the water when Marilyn left.

Weaner PO3 was snoozing on the rock flats near SRI. For much of Marilyn's viewing session PO3 was obscured by a catamaran that was moored off shore. By the time the boat departed, the heat waves made most photos useless. PO3 never showed anything but her back.

Team R&B had another slow day. They started out at the cliffs and found a small seal on the rocks. It was RQ24 Mauna alone and snoozing away. He was a good boy and made his tags visible.

They decided to so the Ka'ena West trek and came up empty as far as seals, but there were lots of people.

When they made it to the bay, they had junior sealette with them. They waited for a seal to show up. Finally they spotted a seal foraging and doing 8 min dives. It was Kala RH76, and it looked like she was going to land but then she went out again.  Which was probably good since the beach was really crowded.

After many hours of searching they found one last seal. The seal was in a water hole, snoozing and quite comfortable. It was RL08 who had the water hole to himself all stretched out. Usually there is a battle over this spot.

Once again Team R&B decided to expand their searching since it's been so quiet lately.

Well today they spotted a big fat seal on the rocks at one of the stops. It was R407 Kawika snoozing away.  He was alone and his big natural bleach on his left hip was visible.  Team R&B were surprised how big he has gotten since they last saw him.

Heading back and checking a west side location they found one lone seal. It was Kai RM31 alone at seal inlet. They waited to see if others would arrive but he was the only one.

Not having much luck they took the hike out to Kaena West. They found a little green seal but couldn't read the tags. Originally thought maybe Puka but turns out it wasn't they were surprised again to see it was RQ24 Mauna. This kid moves around. 

They were also treated to a pod of dolphins out in the water.

Melody went to check on Kaiwi RK96 and PO5 this afternoon. When she arrived they were just heading into the water and stayed out for past an hour. They were past the natatorium and outlaying reefs. When they headed back in Kaiwi took PO5 they went straight up the Natatorium Wall onto the sand and rested. Eventually moved closer to the lifeguard tower.  They slept and nursed for quite some time.

As mom and pup were resting on the beach a friend of Melody's Sandra pointed a seal was coming in. They got the attention of the DLNR who cleared the swimmers out of the water.  The seal was none other than Rocky herself RH58

who started this trend of giving birth in Waikiki.  Rocky took her time hauling in rolling in the sand before she settled in.

Kaiwi noticed Rocky was there but she and PO5 were far enough away there was no interaction. 

Melody left after they moved further toward the natatorium wall just about sunset.

Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 12:25 to 3:45 and initially only weaner PO3 was onj island and entering the water.

At 12:41 Sadie RB12 and PO4 hauled out and had a nursing session. Then PO4 started back for the water but stopped short. There were three additional feedings. PO4 showed its belly today and it is getting lighter. Although its still a little early to call but it might be a female. We shall see.

At 2:12 weaner PO3 hauled out near the 2BS and moved in the middle cliff direction. PO3 went into snooze mode, until it decided to move further up the beach and went back to sleep.

At 2:43 a juvenile hauled out about 20 feet of the 3BS. Unknown Juvenile 1 - juvenile size, at least one

tag and unknown gender.

At 2:15 Marilyn became aware of a seal in SRI.  About 10 minutes later the seal hauled onto the beach. This is labeled Unknown Juvenile 2 - juvenile size, unsure about tags or gender.
