January 31, 2024 Tuesday's Dailies

Todays dailies are brought to you by Marilyn and Team R&B💕

Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 11:50 to 1:25 and there were two seals seen during that time.
Between 3BS and SRI were two seals:
Juvenile Female: juvenile size, light yellowish female belly and two red tags.
Adult Male: adult size, medium to dark gray male belly, Marilyn did not seen tags. At one point she thought she saw a NB on the very tip of RFF, but it could have been sand.

There was one Masked Booby on the outer rim of RI crater and lots of Red-Tailed tropic birds.

Team R&B spent all morning looking, stopping at one spot or another coming up empty. They did see some whales from afar and the boats that were following the

Finally they found R407 Kawika coming up on the rocks. All his markers were visible, no tags, scar on left eye and that beautiful natural bleach on his side.
There were people around but they were all respectful.  Team R&B did see a very silly dog hanging out on top of a rubbish can.

They saw that signs were up at Plains but the seal was gone. So they continued their search and spot a big fat seal way down. It was a good long walk and worth it to find RL12 Aukai. To quote Barbara "she is one far bum bucha!!"
It was surprising to see so many homeless folks, kayakers, kids, rubbish, you name it.... it was out there.
Aukai remined undisturbed enjoying her nap.

January 30, 2024 Tuesday's Dailies

Todays dailies are brought to you by Team R&B💕

Team R&B once again dealt with the rainy weather. They took a drive out to plains and there they found RL12 Aukai.  She was alone resting on shore.
They also came across a very handsome rooster that actually looks fake, but he's the real thing.

Finally the rain stopped and they got to see some blue skies.

From afar they spotted a seal on shore. They went to check it out, but soon realized there were people out there and the seal was out of sight. They were able to ID R407 Kawika.
They did get some up close and personal photos of all the crabs on shore.

January 29, 2024 Monday's Dailies

Todays dailies are brought to you by Marilyn and Team R&B💕

Marilyn did a quick check of Rabbit Island. However the winds were intense and sea spray everywhere that she gave up. She managed to do a quick scan of the island and there were four seals.  She described a large adult on the rock flats of LPB and three seals of sub-adult to adult size between 3BS and SRI.  Marilyn never set up the camera so there are no photos.

Team R&B found Kekoa Alii RK72 foraging off shore at Campbells. There were strong winds, gray and rainy skies.
They met up with two women trying to find Kekoa Alii. So Team R&B helped them see him in the wild "victory at sea" waters.  Kekoa seemed to be doing just fine and busy eating.

Team R&B left to make an appointment. Later they went back to look for seals but came up empty. The weather got worse so they called it a day.

January 28, 2024 Sunday's Dailies

Todays dailies are brought to you by Team R&B💕

The day started out okay, so they headed out. Then the dark clouds came and it turned onto another rainy day.  Their first stop at the bay they ran out and there was Miss Kala RH76 at her zen rock garden.
It started to pour so hard they hid behind some trees. Making back to the car after getting soaked they waited but it didn't stop so they left.

They headed to a couple of other stops but the rain persisted so they ran some errands.
After their errands they headed over to plains. They parked the car and saw the lifeguards flying by the site. They spotted a seal on shore and there was Aukai RL12.  They wanted to show different views of how big she is, but the skies opened up again. They got soaked again, but Aukai was just fine.
The beach was full of people until the rain came, and man oh man they took off running.

When they arrived at their last stop there were no seals on shore. The wind was blowing and it was chilly. Out in the surf they spotted a seal off shore. They saw a mark on the right side, but again it began to rain again. They were determined and kept trying to find the seal, managed to get a couple of shots of the unidentified unknown U/U.
For the 3rd and finally time they got soaked.  Lets hope nobody catches a cold!

January 27, 2024 Saturdays' Dailies

Todays dailies are brought to you by Marilyn and Team R&B💕

Team R&B has covered so many beaches and weren't having much luck. Finally at campbells they spotted two seals foraging about 300 feet off shore.
They were very happy to see one of them was Kekoa Alii RK72 with all his bling. The water was so rough, or Victory at Sea as DB would say.
Junior Sealette hung out with grandma for awhile trying to get an ID on the other foraging seal. It had a cc scar on mid-back and it was an adult, but that was all they got.

At another west side location they noticed it has gotten bad, many more homeless and lots of dogs and
puppies.  Checking around they did find a seal on lower rocks. It was RW02 PvKauai alone resting with his tags showing. They didn't stay in that they didn't want to draw any attention to him.

They got word from a friend of a seal hauling out at plains. It took them a bit to get there. When they finally arrived the lifeguards had put a great zone to protect the very fat female. It was Aukai RL12 and she is looking very beautiful and hapai. As much as they wanted to stay longer it was getting late so they headed out.

Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 1:25 to 3:15 and there were six seals seen during that time.

Initially on the rock flats of LPB was an Unknown Sub-Adult 1: sub-adult size, lighter ventral, not sure about sex or tags. The US1 moved a short distance near an Unknown Adult.
The Unknown Adult: adult size, at least one red tag, scar on mid-right side. The UA never showed its ventral side.

On the 1BS side of LPB was a Sub-adult Female: sub-adult size to adult size, light female belly and teo red tags.

Initially up in the dunes near 3BS was a Juvenile Female: juvenile size, light female belly and two red tags. She did eventually move down onto the beach later.

Between 3BS and SRI was an Adult Female: adult size, light yellowish tan female belly and two red tags.

About 2:30, Marilyn noticed a seal had partially hauled out of SRI. She labeled this seal as an Unknown Sub-Adult 2: sub-adult size, lighter ventral, at least one tag and unsure about sex.
