May 18, 2025 Yesterday's News

Marilyn and Diane met up with Lesley on Saturday and they covered a lot of ground which resulted in 13 seal sightings.
First they saw RT68 Mana who is R303's (BG) 2024 pup. He was ID'd by his juvenile size and T68 tag. He looks healthy and they were happy to see him returning to his home stomping/swimming grounds.
Next they saw RL98 Lina and her pup PO4 snoozing on the reef flat. They both look good.
At 10 minute beach they found R330 Squinty snoozing on the beach. He was ID'd by his adult size, 3CB tag, male belly and small nb in his midventral area.
Next they found RT98 Eha ( RL98's 2024 pup) and RW02 PvKauai.  RT98 was ID'd by her juvenile size, T98 tag and light green female belly. RW02 was ID'd by his adult size, dark male belly and W77 tag.
At the point they found R416 MaKali'i and R3CU together in a tide pool.  Lesley was able to make the positive ID. R416 is very green.
Next there was RG40 Hoklokai. He was ID'd by his adult size and nb on his rear flipper.
Out on the flats and hidden in one of the channels was R3CX Nalu.

Lastly they stopped off and visited with RH92 Nalani and her pup PO8. There was a another seal nearby R616 (first time meeting him)
Nalani was ID'd by her large nursing size, female belly and the scar on the right side of her head. PO8 was mostly hidden behind her.
Very close to them was a small male seal who was ID'd as R616 by his 7GV tag and the scar on his muzzle. Apparently he was first seen on Kauai and given his R616 ID in February 2023 he was seen with a nasty unknown cut across his muzzle. The cut has healed and left a visible scar.

March 12, 2024 Tuesday's Dailies

Todays dailies are brought to you by Team R&B 💕
Marilyn did check Rabbit Island and I quote; " There is finally a day with sunshine and moderate winds and no Hawaiian Monk Seals to be seen"

ALSO and update to yesterday's post from Tammy.  In reference to Justin's sighting at Ka'ena Point, N1 is R420, who also has an N11 applied bleach. He moved before they could finish the 11.
3CB is Squinty R330, he finally got tags 3CA/3CB.

Team R&B first find was at Kahe. Kalua RL20 was to the left on the rocks. He was resting and they were able to get a positive ID.   But then they found an Unknown Adult, no tags, scar on its head and back, and split hind flippers. They weren't able to see if it was a male or female.

Next stop at another west side location they found one seal. It was RM31 Kai alone resting up on the rocks.

They headed over to the bay and found Miss Kala RH76 to the left front area. She was alone in a pond resting. They waited an hour to see her applied bleach number to confirm her ID. Hopefully she just cooling off resting and doesn't plan on staying for long.
Last but not least they got to see many whales out and about along with all the boats.
