May 3, 2026 Sunday's Dailies

Todays dailies are brought to you by Marilyn and  Team R&B💕

Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 12:15 to 1:53 pm and there were seven seals seen during that time.
On LPB were MO3 and her pup PO3 (who is 3 weeks old today). There was also a Sub-adult Male
MO3 vocalized at the SM as they were hauling out. Marilyn saw several nursing sessions. Marilyn noted she might have seen an orange "blur" on PO3's right side, which maybe the result of an applied 3. When PO3 moved up from the beach from MO3 closer to the SM, MO3 moved up between the pup and SM.
The Sub-adult Male was sub-adult to small adult size, sand covered male belly with a possible dark patch on the ventral not sure about tags.
RF34 Pua and PO5 were nursing when Marilyn started viewing. Ar 12:29 pm, Pua and PO5 entered the water and swam until hauling out at 12:51 pm. Then they went into snooze mode.
RK38 Hali'a was again asleep on to of the waterfront rocks. But after her pup PO4 started vocalizing, RK38 hauled out and the pup nursed.
There was a yacht race today that took the boats in front of Rabbit Island and then they rounded the island and headed back past thee Makapuu Lighthouse and presumably to Ala Wai Harbor.

Team R&B started their day on the west side and were very happy to find not one but two seals together. There was RH76 Kala with R3CX Nalu.
As they went to the site Nalu was leaving so they hurried over to get his ID. Then he went foraging. Kala remained on shore.

Then they got a text of a seal hauling up at plains. By the time they made it out there, four seals were on shore. They were all in one zone thanks to the lifeguards.
First they came across was RP20, she was with Aukai RL12. Then there was RT06 and he was with R407.

After leaving plains and heading back to the west side they made a stop at kahe. There in the pond that all the seals seem to love they found Lefty RG28. He was alone and doing just fine.

From afar they spotted two adult seals at yoks. They couldn't get out there because the area is still closed. They did their best to get IDs but it was too far. They reported them both as Unknown Adults.
Then to close out the day they saw two whales, a mom and calf!

April 28, 2026 Tuesday's Dailies

Todays dailies are brought to you by Marilyn and Team R&B💕

Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 12:55 to 2:48 pm and there were seven seals seen during that time.
Near the 1BS side of :PB was MO3 and her pup PO3. Both seem to be doing well. Marilyn saw two nursing sessions, but no swim session. She may have seen the applied "3" bleach on the right side of PO3.
About 60 feet Makapuu of the 3BS was RF34 Pua and her pup PO5. Marilyn did not see much of the pup today and didn't see any nursing sessions. The pup came around mom for a short while but then moved behind her again. PO5 is two weeks old today.

About 50 feet further in the Makapuu direction was RK38 Hali'a. Once again RK38 made it difficult for her pup PO4 to nurse. First the pup climbed up from behind to nurse. Later POO4 moved around to the front but still had to climb up mom to nurse. A red-footed booby photo bombed them in one of the photos.
Behind the rocks on the RRB side of th SRI channel was an Unknown Unknown. Marilyn only got glimpses of the seal which was mostly hidden behind the rocks. The seal did appear to vocalize which made Marilyn wondered whether there was another seal hidden behind the rocks.
Team R&B had a slow start to their seal sightings today. So they spend some time watching the boobies fishing and resting. They truly are amazing.

Finally when they made a stop at kahe they spotted a seal resting on the rocks. It was RG28 Lefty on his own. They saw his big scar on his left for flipper. Its all healed and looks good.
They returned in the afternoon and he was still there, had moved to the pond.

They headed over to plains hoping there would be more seals. They did see a seal on shore by the fence line. It was the lovely RP20 from Kauai. She was alone and resting peacefully.
Team R&B waited around for more seals but none came.

Finally after a month of not being able to get to the cliffs area, they ventured out. They were happy they did because there was one seal
resting. It was RL42 Leia looking nice and fat. She was alone and resting peacefully. The area is still pretty quiet so it was nice not to have all the traffic. As soon as they spotted a car they left the area, so RL42 could continue her undisturbed rest.

April 27, 2026 Monday's Dailies

Todays dailies are brought to you by Marilyn and Team R&B💕

Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 11:48 am to 2:01 pm and there were seven seals seen during that time.
On LPB were MO3 and her pup PO3. Marilyn saw one nursing session, but no swim session today. The pup seems active and healthy.
About 50 feet Makapuu of the 3BS were RF34 Pua and her pup PO5. Marilyn saw the pup several time but no nursing sessions. Mom and pup seem healthy.
About 60 feet further towards SRI was RK38 Hali'a and her pup PO4.
As usual RK38 was in shallow water. PO4 seemed irritated that it could not nurse. Finally RK38 hauled out about 1:30 pm and PO4 almost immediately started nursing. PO4 nursed for 30 minutes before going into snooze mode. Marilyn did briefly see the applied bleach on RK38's left rear side.
Up from the SRI channel was a Juvenile Female: large juvenile size, old coat with a yellow female belly with lots of green, dark patched under her eyes and two red tags.

Starting their day on the west side Team R&B spotted a fat female. She was alone resting on seal inlet. They were able to ID Kala RH76.

There were no other seals seen on the west side, so they headed over to plains. On shore were two adult seals near the fence line. There was Miss Aukai RL12 resting with RN14 Kalani.
Then way down by the cabins they spotted another seal. It was a female RP20 alone resting peacefully.
They did some checking and read she was born in 2021 to mom R400 from Polihale Kauai. Seems RP20 was relocated to a better spot where there was more food available.
