October 3, 2025 Friday's Dailies

Todays dailies are brought to you by Marilyn and Team R&B💕  Also in yesterday's news from Tammy.

Tammy went out to the point with Lesley and Michael and they had a great day. Their first find was RT98 (RL98 little girl from 2024). Next find was RT06 another kid from 2024. He hasn't been seen around the area for a while so it was nice to have him back. Then there was RU04 younger sister to RT98 (RT98's 2025 little girl).
The shearwaters are getting their adult feathers and stretching their wings.
Our at the point they found R330 Squinty ID'd by his natural bleach on his stomach.  The last find of the day and completed the family tree was RL98 momma to the two little females from earlier.  How cool is that!

Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 12:43 to 2:34 pm and there were two seal seen during that time.
On the 3BS side of Middle Cliff was a seal labeled as RQ44 Mahina: sub-adult to adult size, old coat with lots of green, female belly and three red tags ( two of LRF and one on RRF). Marilyn though it was her yesterday but wasn't able to verify the three tags. RQ44 is Aukai's 2022 Rabbit Island pup. She had been given a temp tag before receiving her cohort tags. She still has her temporary tag.
Out on RRB was a Sub-adult Female: small sub-adult size, new coat with light gray female belly and two red tags. This seal may have a pit scar on the rear left side.

Team R&B started their day at Pokai bay and saw something they don't see everyday. A very large yacht was in the bay, and everyone was talking about it.  No one seems to know much about it.
Anyway more importantly Miss Kala RH76 was at her zen pond. She was alone today snoozing peacefully.
On the rest camp side and by the jetty were the dynamic duo. Once again RH48 Lei Ola and R3CX Nalu were foraging together.

Over at Kahe they spotted a seal coming into the area. They saw it had cc scars and noted his cyst, that confirmed it was RL08.  He didn't
stay and moved out heading in the direction of KoOlina.

Lastly they found RM31 Kai at cliffs. He was seen sleeping at the same spot he was the other day. It appears he going to molt any time now.  It will be an interesting weekend if he's there to molt.

June 24, 2025 Tuesday's Dailies

Todays dailies are brought to you by Marilyn and Team R&B💕

Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 12:37 to 1:53 pm and there were seven seals seen during that time.
Near the back Lanikai side of the beach were RH76 Kala and PO11. Marilyn did not see a lot of activity from them today, but both look healthy and the pup is bigger.
At 12:45 pm, Marilyn noticed that one of the weaners (later determined to be RU24) was in a tide pool in the rock flats on the back Lanikai side. Marilyn saw the weaner playing in the tide pools
and mouthing items for over a half hour, but then lost sight of the kid. At 1:31 pm RU24 hauled out on the Lanikai side of the beach and galumphed up to RH76. There was no response from Kala. The weaner soon moved away and ended up hidden behind RK37. RH76 Kala seems much more tolerant of other seals than her older sister RF34 Pua.
In the middle of LPB was RK37 Hali'a. Marilyn thinks she has been the UU reported for the past two days. She has a new coat, light gray female belly and a nb on her rear lower left side. Marilyn did not see her tags, but assumes they are there.
Still on the 1BS side of LPB was RL12 Aukai and her pup PO12. The pup was mostly hidden behind mom, until PO12 headed down to the water. Aukai vocalized and after a while PO12 headed back up to mom and then they both moved up due to the rising tide. Marilyn had seen PO12 behind mom trying to get mom to roll over so she could nurse. Marilyn never observed a nursing session.
Alone on the beach between Middle Cliff and 3BS was female weaner RU38. She was weaner size, shape and coloration, a light female belly and two red tags. Knowing she was the female weaner, the other weaner had to be the male RU24.

Team R&B decided to head west early in the day for a change.  They did find two seals on shore at
Makaha. It took them a while to make an ID on the male. They were able to ID the female RL98 Lina with her right fore flipper cc scar. She is looking green, but healthy after recently weaning her pup.
Finally they were able to figure out the male was RG40 Holokai. He has no tags, and his bleach on his hind flipper.  They don't see these two very often so it was a real treat.  The two were resting peacefully.
While watching over these two, Team R&B got to watch some of the surfers out there today.

May 31, 2025 Saturday's Dailies

Todays dailies are brought to you by Marilyn, Team R&B and yours truly💕

I was very fortunate today to head out to Ka'ena Point today with my buddies, Marilyn and Diane. We met up with Lesley and to make the day all the more sweeter I got to see Team R&B and junior sealette for a hug.
First of all the point in its own right is absolutely beautiful, but to be able to see three mom and pup pairs was absolutely amazing.  So there was RL42 Leia who gave birth this morning to PO10. The pups
umbilical was still attached. There was a moment or two when the pup got washed up by the waves on the shoreline. It did fine and Mom was right there, but for the aunties it was a nail biter.
We also saw RN58 Luana with her pup PO9 who is 11 days old.  Then there was  RL98 and her pup PO6 a little female. I think Lesley said she was 35 days old.
We also saw two adult males out at NARS, they were RG28 Lefty and RG32. Lets just say I was grateful to be with my friends, because not only would I not know who I was looking at, I am not sure I would have even have seen them.
We were also treated to the albatross chicks that are getting big.  Thank you Diane for sending me some of the photos from our day.
Once we left the NARS and went back to do a quick check on all the pups, we came across a small female snoozing on the beach. She was ID'd as RT98 Eha, one of last years pups.

Team R&B started their day on the west side where they found two seals early morning. They were up on the rocks, one was ID'd as RN04 Kainoa who is a big boy. The seal next to him was smaller, but Team R&B couldn't see if it had tags due to its position.  There was a scar on left side of face/neck area, scratches on lower back. They thought maybe RL70 but couldn't be sure so it was reported as an Unknown Adult.

Since they weren't having much luck on the west side they decided to go and visit with some seals at the point. They first found RL42 Leia and her adorable brand new pup. PO10.  The pup was active looking to nurse but was not latching on while they watched.  They were there when the pup got moved about by the waves, which startled mom causing her to bark for her baby. They eventually made their way to higher ground.  Junior sealette was also in heaven watching the new pup.

Then they headed over and saw RN58 and PO9. They noted where were no fencing on this side of the beach and no signs. They saw a feeding and then mom and pup go for a swim. The waters were a little rough, with the pup getting tossed, but mom was right there barking
whenever she lost sight of it. Eventually they both hauled up for another feeding.
Lastly they saw the young seal on shore with a lot of green. When they were there they couldn't see tags or any distinguishable markings.  As I mentioned before this little one was ID'd by Lesley as RT98, a little later.

Marilyn went to view Rabbit Island when we got back, she was there from 2:23 to 4:01 pm and there were four seals seen during that time.
In the middle of LPB was weaner PO3: weaner size, light male belly. He entered the water when RL08 swam by.
Out of the SRI rock flats was RL08 "bambam squarepants" adult size, older coat, pit scars above LFF, RFF, right mid dorsal and right rear side. He was gone from the rock flats at 3:55 pm and a short time later he showed up on the shoreline near PO3 who headed into the water.
When Marilyn started viewing there was a seal near the water line a short distance Lanikai side of the 2BS. He looked dark and was covered in dark sand. He was gone from the location at 2:43 and was seen a short time later in the water off LPB. At 2:57 pm, Marilyn saw R416 with weaner PO4 on the rock flats Lanikai side of LPB. R416 was ID'd by his small adult size, light male belly with distinctive scars. He appears very green. R416 and PO4 then moved around the rocks flats for the next hour, sometimes interacting. They were still on the rock flats when Marilyn left.
