Tammy is still on Molokai, and yesterday had a ten seal day.  She sent the photos today and thankfully labeled them for me. All I can say is Tammy is having a great time and I only wish I was there with her.

Here are all the seals she saw yesterday:  RK62 - RK94 - RQ32 - RN20 - RQ82 - RW00 - RQ28 - RQ30 - R424.

Team R&B took a completely different route this morning and went out to Mokuliea side of Ka'ena Point. Thankfully the weather held up and it was only drizzling. They met up with Lesley while out there.

They spotted a seal from afar and Lesley let them know it was RK36 Kauai Kolohe.

Next there was RL98 Lina.

Then they walked out some to the point and found two seals, which they did not know their ID. One large adult and one small mint greenish seal with a cc scar on left fore flipper. They didn't recognize anything familiar about the large seal.

Last seal on shore as they were going to leave. There was RW02 PvKauai.

Also they were happy to see lots of albatross flying and gliding. They were in heaven.

On their way home they stopped at a west side location and they were happy they did. There were three seals:

RL08 was at left high rocks alone.

RP30 Puka was alone at seal inlet.

RH76 Kala was at waterfront rocks.

They made one last stop. In the morning they could see there was a sweep of all the campers. When they went by in the afternoon the campers were back putting up their tents.  They stopped briefly and found RH48 Lei Ola in the little pond. She was alone snoozing once again.

02/26/2022 (PART 2) Molokai Two Day Update from Team T&D

Team T&D have been hitting the seal jackpot on Molokai. On Friday they documented ten seals. And Saturday they only found two.  Another way to look at it, 12 seals in a weekend, not bad.

They started with the beach close to where they were staying and found two seals. RL04, female who interestingly they met in 2016 at Ka'ena Point. The other is RKB2.

The rest of their day was hiking with a friend looking for seals. They found L6 hidden in the rocks, he always looks like he's smiling. 

Next they watched two seals playing in a tide pool. It was RK94 a male, and RL64 female. The two were playing together for quite awhile. When they were on their way back the two were still there playing in the water.  

Another find was RL38 alone sleeping peacefully on the beach. They were told she is an elusive seal so they were really lucky to see her.

Further down on the beach they found 6FI Noa! And thanks to a shinny white belly they found L3 hidden in some rocks. 

A little further down they found L4 Kepuhinui. 

Lastly a second check of one of the beaches on their way back they found RL80.  Many thanks to Team T&D for sharing and their friend for the hikes and IDs.

Saturday's find was RL04 relaxing on the beach alone. The other seal on a different beach was RKB2. Team T&D saw both these critters on Friday.

02/27/2021 Saturday (part 2) Team T&D Friday Update from Molokai

 Team T&D went to Molokai for some quality time. Of course they went looking for seals and hiked La'au point. They were very happy when they found nine seals.  

The first one was probably a 2020 pup, it had a bleach but they were unable to read it. Next was for sure a 2020 pup bleached L2.  They were combing the beach when they happen across RJ08. Another 2020 kid bleached L4.  Just as they made it to the end there were two more seals. RK92 a male. Chances are he is a 2018 K cohort based on his size. 

On the walk back they saw another 2020 kid, but they were only saw a "L" and unable to see a number. Next in the tidepool was RK94. And lastly there was a very pregnant female that they could not get an ID. Maybe once the report goes in we'll get more information on the IDs.
