August 19. 2026 Wednesday's Dailies

Marilyn noted a correction based on input from NOAA the seal she has ID'd as R416 on Monday and Tuesday was in fact R430 formerly Temp 25.

She viewed Rabbit Island from 12:10 to 2:10 pm and there were six seals seen during that time.

Alone out on LPB was recent weaner PO13, who you can see her huge size.

Near the 3BS was a weaner labeled Weaner Female: weaner size, light female belly, and three red tags.

Not far away was a Juvenile Female: juvenile size, old coat with lots of green and two tags.

The JF was visited by two larger seals:

Adult Male: adult size, golden male belly possibly with some darker patches and two tags.

Sub-adult Male: sub-adult to small adult size, newer coat, male belly

and two red tags.

Out on RRB was a Weaner Unknown: weaner size, newer coat light belly and not sure about sex or tags.

Team R&B first finds were by the outfall. They spotted a green seal foraging but it seemed like it was in a hurry. Then all of sudden the adult green seal came towards them and as it passed a second was was seen. Both seals headed in the KoOlina direction. They thought maybe the larger seal was Aukai RL12.

They decided to make their way to paradise cove and their friend told them one seal had hauled out and the other took off in the channel.  The seal on shore was Aukai RL12, who is fat and green.

Then Team R&B saw another seal coming around the lagoon and came into the area looking around. It was R3CX Nalu, who they hadn't seen for awhile. Aukai looked at him, and Nalu left swimming towards Luau side where people were in the water. Their friend called out to the people to be alert of the seal. Nalu came back to Aukai, once more then disappeared and Aukai stayed. 

Next stop was at plains. They found RT06 Marvin up on shore in a zone. He was resting and seemed to be more comfortable than the past few days of flip flopping in the sand.

They searched several beaches looking for more seals, on their last stop there were no seals but lots of turtles. One was so big and it had an applied bleach number RM24.  What a nice way to end the day.

August 7, 2026 Friday's Dailies

Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 12:11 to 2:18 pm and there were four seals seen during that time.

RH76 Kala and PO13 hauled out some time shortly before 12:47 pm. They had no been on shore earlier. PO13 is getting really big, the pup will be five weeks old tomorrow. Marilyn couldn't judge Kala's condition because of her position.

Between Middle Cliff and the 3BS was a Weaner Male: weaner size,light male belly and at least two red tags.

Directly down from the 3BS was a Weaner Female: smaller weaner size, light female belly and probably three red tags.

Team R&B got a text from a friend of a seal at Makaha. They headed over and saw that signs were up. There in a zone was Lefty RG28. Been a little bit since we heard about him.

Since they were on the west side they went out to check the area earlier rather than later. At first there was nothing to see, but on their last stop they heard a woman say oh look another one. Team R&B only saw one seal and it was RL08 hauling up and there was another seal on shore R416 Makali'i.

RL08 approached R416 and sniffed at him, and they had some words between them. RL08 took off and they didn't see him again. But R416 stuck around.

At another west side location they were looking so they watched the

dolphins. Then all of a sudden, a green seal passed by, they heard it breathing. Turned out to be R3CX Nalu, he didn't land, but its good to see him back in the area.

On the southwest side they once again spotted RT06 Marvin from afar. He was alone resting on shore. They best guess is he is going to stay there to molt. They hope to get to him to see how his molt goes.

With the weekend its going to be packed with people. They just hop no vehicles drive down on the sand.

June 22, 2026 Monday's Dailies

Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 12:15 to 2:00 pm and there were six seals seen during that time. Marilyn noted how dry the island is since the Kona low storms in mid-March.

On the rock flats on the Lanikai side of LPB was weaner RV68: weaner size, male belly, she did not see tags because of his location. He did not help by not moving much.

On the Lanikai side of LPB was the other male weaner RV70: weaner size, male belly, two red tags. He spent most of the afternoon snoozing. 

Marilyn did not see RV50 female weaner today.

Between Middle Cliff and the 3BS was an adult female that Marilyn thinks is RK38 (RV68's mom). She was mostly in snooze mode but moved around some. She has an older coat and should molt sometime in the next month: female belly and two red tags.

Between the 3BS and SRI were RM26 Nohea and PO10. The pup was

mostly hidden behind mom,  but had an extended nursing session.

Out on the rock flats between SRI and RRB was RU38: female seal, very green, dark patches below eyes and two red tags. She is bigger than most yearlings, fat and chunky.

Team R&B started on the west side looking at the water, on the rocks going back and forth and seeing nothing. They stayed for a while and was heading back to the car. All of a sudden they noticed a shine in the water, it was a seal. They weren't sure at first then realized it was RU12 She came up to the zen and went to sleep.

Next they headed over to the pup site. Upon arriving a few people were on shore observing the seals and fishers to the right doing their thing and all was good.

Mom and pup were on shore nursing for a little while. Then PO11 took off on its own, the water was very rough today. It pushed the pup in all directions, and the kid fought the currents. A wave shoved PO11 back up on shore with mom. Then tried to nurse, but didn't so PO11 went back to the water. again. Rocky wasn't aware the pup left as she was in a deep sleep.  For a minute Team R&B lost sight of the pup. It

showed up on shore, by the waves still getting sucked out. The pup was crying, and Mom woke up looking for PO11 and the two were vocalizing back and forth. Finally they were reunited! It was touching to see them together.

The same small dog from the other day appeared from the right heading to the area. A volunteer waved it off and it turned around. But then it came back, the volunteer kept waving the dog off until it left.

Then an eel with a big hook and line washed ashore. The volunteer got it and a fisher brought pliers and removed the hook The eel was tossed back into the water.

Team R&B headed out to the cliffs and saw two people near a seal, then the seal took off. Team R&B waited for the couple and asked if they had any photos. They showed Team R&B their pictures and they ID'd R3CX Nalu. 

While still in the area they spotted two seals on the rocks. They ID'd one as T98 the other was RP30 Puka.  RT98 is RL98 Lina's 2024 female pup.  

Puka and RP30 argued and a bunch of folks arrived saw the seal and started making sea lion sounds, Team R&B asked them to stop, Then they talked about the dude who threw the rock at the seal on Maui.
