10-28-2012 DB's Dailies

At 0625 I found Benny (RE74) rolling in the shallows at the east end of Sandy Beach. Judging my the wallow and trail he had apparently hauled out prior to my seeing him. He would depart to the east. That would not be the end of Benny.

At 0727 I found Duke (RA12) just hauling out to the water front rocks , right of Seal Rock Inlet.

At 0829 posse member Danny called with the report of an animal just hauling out to the east end of Irma's. When Marilyn and I arrived we found Benny (RE74) on the beach. We got him cordoned off just in the nick of time, as we were being inundated with a Robert's tour bus, and 2 Limos. It was instant chaos but we and Benny survived .

I went off to check Sandy Beach, since Buster and Irma were yet to be accounted for. Marilyn called at 1027 to advise that Benny was in the water and on the move, in my direction. At 1044 Benny would haul out at the east end of Sandy Beach.

Alittle late, but kinda'/sorta' on schedule, Buster (RV08) arrived at 1045, and hauled out to Benny's location. There followed about an hour of many battles. I don't think anyone won or lost. Benny just seemed to be tired of being bothered, and entered the water with Buster right behind, at 1148. They seemed to have moved off to the west.

After picking up the stuff, and set off for yet another Irma check, but at 1206 posse member , Robert called with the report of an animal at Crappy Cove, Sandy Beach. When I arrived at 1208 I found Irma (R010). As I was cordoning her off, Lesley called to advise that Buster had returned to Sandy Beach, but after a short stay, entered the water and was heading my way. Sure enough he hauled out to the opposite end of the cove from Irma, but departed just as Marilyn arrived with the equipment and returned to the east end of Sandy Beach. Lesley and Marilyn cordoned him off..............again. Lesley had moved some small kids who had been digging a hole in the sand, and sure enough when Buster hauled out he went directly for their hole, where he remained the rest of the day.

I picked up the rope at the Irma site at 1850. Irma remains. Buster departed at 1900. I picked up the stuff and called it a day.

I finally got back to Makai Pier at 1317 for a look at Rabbit Island. I found Duke where I'd left him, and also found Nani (RK60), 50 ft left of 1BS, on RI. At 1416 Duke would relocate to join her.

Kimo called at 1445 to advise that Irma had relocated at Crappy Cove. He redid the cordon to keep her safe and sound.

Team Billand reported M&M (R020) between the showers and Tower#2 at White Plains. They reported her departure at 1300.

At 0620 I found Kaiwi (RK96) at Kaiwi Kove. She had been MIA for 6 days, the last report having been from Dera reporting her in the line up at Diamond Head. This morning I found her lying in the exact path of the furrow caused by the moron driving through the Naupaka a couple of days ago . It was scary looking at her in that location and thinking about how crappy that could have been. The Kaiwi Klan has built the Great Elfin Wall to hopefully keep that from ever happening again, but ?????? People who where in there rental Vanagon camper last night said they heard "odd snorting noises a couple of times" between 1800 and 1900, last night, but had no clue what it was, until I showed them Kaiwi this morning. Kaiwi departed at 1805.

At 0900 I found what would prove to be Buster (RV08) doing 7 minute dives at Blowhole.

At 0915 I got a call from my beach dweller posse member at Kaiona Beach Park ( KC was along side his home on the beach several weeks ago), reporting "N3" (Irma), in the shallows behind the bathroom at the beach park. He called a couple minutes later to say that she had departed in a Makapuu direction. I walked every inch of beach between Kaiona BP and Makai Pier, and found nobody, however I did find Kunia and her dog, who cooberated the N3 sighting at Kaiona. I have done mulitple checks of Kaupo Beach Park, as well as Makapuu Beach, but found nobody. Tomorrow.... Only Irma Knows !

At 0858 Vera Cober called with the report of Kermit (R012) who had overnighted fronting #1708, White Plains. Kermit departed at 1700.

Team Billand called from Vegas to advise that they'd gotten a call about an animal at Paradise Cove. I knew Vera was on the way, and sure enough she checked in at 1018 with the Pohaku (RO28) confirmation at PC. Pohaku departed at 1800.

At 0908,there was a report from Dana, of 2 animals at Maili Point. She called at 1351 to advise that she'd found nobody.

Dera checked in at 1422 to advise that Eileen had reported Kekoa (RK72) at the Reef Runway.

At 0610 I found Kaiwi (RK96) waiting for me when I pulled into Kaiwi Kove. She would throw us a few new wrinkles today. She departed at 1150, and I found her again when I got back for a 1403 check. She would depart again with the rising tide at 1442. Thank you the Elves for just being !! Ya' Done Good !!

At 0712 I found Irma (R010) just hauling out to Makapuu Beach. I got her cordoned off, and she has remained all day.

My Rabbit Island observation time was very limited today. An animal with 2 red tags, hauled out to the water front rocks at Seal Rock Inlet, but because I was in and out so much I never got an ID. When I got back at 1445, the animal was gone, and I did not see it again .

I got a call from a fisherman posse member at 1236 reporting an animal in the water at the Kaiser Estate dock at the Kokee Flats. I arrived to find a very high tide with no possibility of a haul out, but I did see a piece of camera/phone video showing an U/U , adult sized animal returning to the water. The footage has no ID value. I checked China Walls, and Spitting Cave also but never found anybody. I'd put my dollar on Rocky, but ????????

Team Billand reported RO28 at Paradise Cove at 0813.

At 0855 They found Noa (R6FI) and R018 together at Maili Point.

At 1018 they reported 2AW at Lualualei BP. Thanks to DOCARE Officer Keawe who went above and beyond, protecting 2AW.

At 1512 Team Billand reported Kermit (R012) fronting #1944, at White Plains.

Dera checked in at 1240 to advise that Reef Runway posse member Eileen had once again reported Ewa Girl (RS00) , and son Kekoa (RK72) nose to nose at the birth beach, Reef Runway.
