At 0600 I found Irma (R010) waiting for me right where I’d left her last night at Makapuu Beach. Still no signs of molting, but the behavior is certainly there.

　

At 0608 Marilyn reported Kea (RN46) foraging amongst the rocks of Crappy Cove. She lost him at 0615 has he headed out.

　

At 1027 I got to Makai Pier for a Rabbit Island look. My Unknown fest continued. The 20% molted male, and the small, green female that was with him were still unknowns. I did manage to confirm Duke (RA12) at Seal Rock Inlet, and confirmed Kaiwi (RK96) at Rocky Right Beach. She was also one of my U/F from yesterday. At 1252 the newly molted small U/F arrived.

　

At 1102 volunteer Melanie called to advise that Kea (RN46) was hauling out 75 yds east of the AD wall. I responded, and we put up the SPZ . He would remain until 1410 when volunteer Marie reported that he had entered the water and swam straight out. She lost him shortly thereafter. Marilyn was out and about on the 4-7 shift but was batting zero until one of my derelict row posse people called at 1716 to advise that Kea was in a tide pool behind his van.

　

At 1124 posse member Alissa called with the report of an animal hauling out to Sandy Beach. When I arrived at 1130 I found Buster (RV08). I guess his Rocky adventure is pau. I cordoned him off and he remains.

　

Incidently, Colleen advised that Rocky was at Diamond Head late yesterday. No word about he whereabouts today.

　

Team Billand reported M&M (R020) at #1708 White Plains , at 0730.

　

Kimo called at 0923 to advise that he’d seen Luana, R912 & RK36 at the pup site this morning. Confirming photos recieved. R912 & RK36 quickly departed . He also advised that he’d found RW02 at Camp Erdman.

　

Cianna called at 1019 with the report of an animal at Pokai Bay. Team Billand would confirm the Haupu (RB24) ID at Rest Camp at 1105.

　

Cianna called again at 1140 to report Right Spot (R016) at one of the Mokes today. Confirming photo received.

　

Team Billand called to advise that posse member Eileen had called at 1240 to report Kekoa (RK72) and U’ilani (RN36) together at the birth beach, Reef Runway.

　

Cianna reported a animal at Maili at 1138. Team Billand confirmed the Makaiwi (R4DF) ID at 1448.

10/26/2010 DB Dailies

It was a miserable day at Makai Pier. It's beginning to feel like winter. Wind, rain, too cool weather. It was a Duke day at RI. He had the place all to himself.

I found Buster at Spitting Cave, doing 14 minute dives. This is a new SC observed dive time record . Ewa Girl held the previous record at 13 minutes.

Team Billand checked in at 1006 to report Irma , once again, at White Plains. She departed at 1650.

Lesley called at 1212 to say that she could find no Ua Malie so far today, but beach walkers told her that there were two large animals at separate locations on the Kahuku side of Kahuku Point. She was trekking off th solve the mystery. At 1228 she reported Right Spot. Despite miles of walking she never located a 2nd animal.

Dera called at 1446 with the report of an animal at Shark's Cove. It was reported to have red tags. An evening email from Tracy brought word that they critter was RI37.

DB Post Tuesday October 21st

Right Spot@RI, 10-21-08
The Tuesday story is short and sweet. Right Spot was waiting for me at 1BS on Rabbit Island this morning. She had the whole place to herself. Her right side posterior natural bleach and her notched RHF were clearly visible. Four of the last five years she has molted at RI. It seems a bit early, but since exact pupping and weaning dates aren't known, it's possible. Only Right Spot knows. She may be hanging out at RI for a while. We shall see. Aloha, DB

DB Post Thursday October 2nd

The Rabbit Island cast was the usual suspects of late. M&M, R301, Buster and Sadie. Nobody did much of anything.

I got a call at 0850 from a posse member, reporting and animal just hauling out at the east end of Sandy Beach. When I arrived I found that Right Spot was there once again. I got her cordoned off, and rechecked her at 1258. When I got back to SB after my day's travels she had departed. People who had arrived at 1500 said she was not there at that time.

DH posse member Colleen, reported Rocky at Diamond Head today. The girl has returned home from her SW quadrant adventure.

A White Plains lifeguard called at 1210 to report an animal 100 ft west of the perimeter fence at the Kalaeloa Campgrounds end of WP. When I arrived I found Ewa Girl. I've checked my records and can confirm that she has never been reported there before, though she is known to have been to Ewa Beach,Iroquois Point, and Campbell Industrial Park.

Since I was in the area, I checked further to the west at Kalaeloa Campgrounds, and 150 yds west of the perimeter fence I found Kermit and Irma close together on the exposed reef. They have both been frequent visitors both separately and together to that location.

It was a long day with lots of miles. First Beck's was 1630. Aloha, DB

My day began by finding Right Spot waiting for me on the main beach of Sandy Beach. She remained there until 1435, leaving of her own volition.

The Rabbit Island crew was M&M , R301, and RB08. There was no interaction. R301 is 100% molted on D#11.

Team Billand called t 1500 to report Kermit and Irma fronting the next to last cottage at the west end of White Plains. They departed of their own volition at 1518. People in the cottage said that they had both been there since 0600 this morning. Aloha, DB

DB Post Sunday September 28th

M&M,R301,RB08&Hoku@RI, RSF@SB, 9-28-08

The "Century Bike Ride" race made travel in the SE quadrant an absolute nightmare today.

The Rabbit Island cast was quiet again today. M&M, R301, RB08 and Hoku just flopped all day. R301 is rapidly rotting now. He had made dramatic progress since yesterday. His D#8 molt was 60%.

Bodysurfer posse member, Mike, called at 0746 to report that an animal was just hauling out at SB. I managed to get from the pier, back to Sandy Beach without killing any of the zillions of bike riders, and found Right Spot, 100 ft east of the "Full Point" Lifeguard stand.I cordoned her off and readjusted the cordon as required throughout the day. She has remained there all day. I'll return to recheck her at dark. Right Spot departed SB at 1834 of her own volition.

Joanna Tabor (bless her little Honu heart), made the Ka'ena Point trek today, and found Benny , all alone at the end of the world. Aloha,
