6/30/2017 DB's Dailies: Kolohe, Aukai,Aka,RG32@Rabbit Island, Right Spot @ Kaupo Beach Park, Rocky&PO3@Kaimana, R137@Haleiwa Surf Condo, Ka'ale & rn14@Maili, Lei Ola@Makua Cliffs, RL42&Benny@30MIN,

At 0800 I found Kolohe (RW22) at Rabbit Island. I’ve been missin’ that boy for a while now. His “cue ball” is always an easy call.

He and Aukai (RL12) were there all day 80 ft left of 1BS on RI.

I looked off toward Kaupo Beach Park at 0912 and sure enough there was Right Spot (R016) on the beach at “cockroach cove” with all the surfers paddling out along side the road.

At 1001 I found Aka in and out of various pools on the left end rock flats.

At 1032 I found RG32 snoozin’ on the water front rocks 40 ft left of Seal Rock Inlet on RI.

At 0746 pal Kelly Girl advised that she had RI37 on the beach behind the Haleiwa Surf Condo. She had been reported departing but returned again at 1545.  Well hello there Miss Kelly Girl... !!!

 At 0819 Team Billand reported Ka’ale (RH32) & RN14 together at Maili.

At 0950 the Billands found Lei Ola (RH48) at Makua Cliffs.

At 1030 Team Billand initially found RL42 at the 30MIN, but it was a great find to see Benny (RE74) cruisin’ to join RL42. It was great to see Benny again !!!

Marilyn just stopped by to see Rocky and PO3 on her way to work to assess the morning situation. All was seemed to be in order along the rope line.

Tammy & Dave spent time today at Kaimana to check out Rocky & PO3. Thanks guys for spending quality time with them ,and sending shots. I haven’t heard as much media chaos as yesterday’s happening.

6/29/2017 SEAL MAIL from PK3 and Pohaku

Aloha Blog Lady,

It's me "The Kid".   I hear I'm no longer the littlest Monk Seal in Hawaii.  Momma told me I've got a new cousin on Oahu. I spent a good portion of the day snoozing next to mom and then she took me on a 45 minute swim--Wow, what a workout!!

Congrats to Rocky and her new pup, catch ya tomorrow.

The Kid

6/29/2017 DB's Dailies: Rocky&PO3@Kaimana, Aka,Aukai,Kea&RG32)@Rabbit Island, Right Spot@Kaupo Beach Park, Luana@Hidden Beach, RN14&Ka'ena@Ka'ena Point, Lei Ola&RL42@30MIN, Ka'ale@Kahe Pt, RIP@Maili,

I received photos around 0730, to have been taken from the friend of a sister, who had looked down from a condo with a large female and a small black pup by her side. The two shots I saw, immediately could see that it was Rocky (RH58)&PO3. I called the Hotline and sure enough was told the pupping event were already known for. The original shots I saw, and then a day of Instagram shots were all about the Kaimana event. All of the local news this evening had individual coverage. The NOAA Monk Seal Research Program also have an article, as well as Civil Beat video coverage.

As you know from the news this is Rocky’s 10th pup. All the other 9 have always been Kauai events. Rocky and I have been together since we met at Rabbit Island in 2003 when she came over as a young girl. This birth at Kaimana for her (or anyone else for that matter) is a shock. I hope that the crowds will keep thoughtful minds, and keep Rocky&pup safe.

HOLY HANNAH!!!  I thought Nani giving birth on the Mokes was bad.... Rocky! Rocky! Rocky!  If you insisted on birthing here why didn't you go just a little further at Auntie Colleen's?
Having said that I just watched KITV news coverage of the story.... It's going to be busy out there. BIG SHOUT OUT to all the folks and agencies looking after this situation.

 Rocky and PO3
Well HELLO there

6/29/2017 DB's Dailies: PART II

With the beginning of that news, it was difficult keep the rest of the population and all the posse that were out there doing our jobs. Rabbit Island was my only finds of Aka , Aukai (RL12), Kea(RN46) & RG32.

As I looked to my right toward Kaupo Beach Park I happened to see rope and signs up as I looked at 1009. I couldn’t see animal, but it was apparent that it was cordoned in the Keiki Pool by the pump house at KBP. I stopped by at the end of the day and noted that it was , in fact, Right Spot (R016). HMMA was there.

At 0653 Team Billand reported RL42 & Lei Ola (RH48) at the 30MIN mark on the west side KP trail.

Barbara continued on to Ka’ena Point and reported RN14 out there at 0749.

Tammy & later Lesley took the northern route to Ka’ena Point this morning. Luana (RN58) were found at Hidden Beach.

At KP Tammy reported RN14 & Ka’ena (RO40) together at the Runway at KP at 1031.

At 1241 Team Billand found RIP (RR70) at Maili. At 1301 the Billands found Ka’ale (RH32) at Kahe Pt.
