April 4, 2023 Tuesday's Dailies

Todays dailies are brought to by Marilyn, Melody and Team R&B💕

Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 10:50 to 1:25 and there were six seals occupying the island.
On LPB was Mom 4 and PO4, they were just moving up the beach. There were snoozing and nursing sessions. Still no positive ID on mom.
Between 1BS and 2BS was an Adult Male: adult size, older darker coat and male belly and at least one tag. There may have been some scars on the dorsal back and ventral side. He spent most of the time covered in sand.
Initially in the water but hauling out on shore were Mom 3 and PO3. They went for the longest swim, Marilyn has seen so far. Came back in for a nurse and snooze.
About 60 feet of 3BS was RK37 Huia: subadult to adult size, female belly, two red tags and NB on lower left side.
Later, Marilyn got word that RM26 Nohea was on the east side.
RM26 is Kaiwi's pup born on April 6 2020. She'll be turning 3 in a couple of days.

Melody decided to go visit Lei Ola and PO2, even though it was a rainy dreary day. When she arrived Mom and PO3 were in the middle of a nursing session. Seems PO2 has grown quite a bit since she saw him six days ago. Once the pup's belly was full they both took a nap.
After an hour they were still in the same spot. Eventually PO2 got antsy and started to venture off away from Lei Ola. Mom woke up and had a panic attack not have her eyes on it. PO2 couldn't make it over the rocks so it barked for Mom. Kid went over to mom and sheepishly buried her head in the sand. Then they headed out for a swim.
Once they came back in there was RQ75 Lehiwa, Right Spots pup from last year. Lei Ola didn't like the intrusion so she went after Q75. Lehiwa fought back (little bugga).
When Melody was leaving she spotted Lehiwa RQ75 with U'i Mea Ola

Team R&B started their morning at the ourfall watching an adult seal foraging along side snorkelers. They took some pics from a distance and seeing a scar on left lip they remembered RK62 female from Molokai.

Next they headed over to secrets to check out what was happening today. A volunteer was on site there were signs but no ropes around Aukai RL12 on shore. A wedding group did a photo shoot near Aukai.

At another west side location they found Miss Kala RH76 in the company of the two brothers, RM31 Kia and RP30 Puka. Nice to see the brothers hanging out together.

On their way home they checked out the bay. There they found RH32 Kaale alone. He seemed alert looking around over his shoulders.  They were surprised to see him in this
spot, since its been quite awhile he had been seen there.
Next at a different location they found RQ24 Mauna and RL42 Leia. Looks like RQ24 is doing okay getting along in life.
RL42 was well hidden but they saw her CC scar to get a positive ID. They couldn't tell much about her size based on her position.

12/04/2022 Sunday's Dailies

Todays dailies are brought to you by posse pal Justin, Marilyn and Team R&B💕.

Justin was on the north shore near turtle bay there was two seals. One adult male and the other was RG72 Lehiwa. A volunteer arrived shortly after he did and had signs to put up around the adult male who was ID'd by the volunteer as RK36 Kauai Kolohe (no photos unfortunately).  Lehiwa was ID'd by her flipper tags Q73/72. She hauled out just outside the signs set up around RK36 who apparently is molting.

Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 12:20 to 2:20 and there were four seals on island today.
Near the 1BS were two seals:
Unknown Adult: adult size, yellowish tan ventral side, unknown gender, two red tags. This seal may have a partial C scar on the left cheek. It could be the A/F she saw the past two days near the 3BS.
Nearby was an Adult Male: adult size, dark coat with a dark male belly and unsure about tags.
On the Lanikai side of the Middle Cliff was a Juvenile Male: juvenile size, lighter male belly and two red tags.
Between 3BS and SRI was RK24 Wawamalu/Bruno: subadult to adult size, light gray tan male belly, two red tags and scar on lower left lip.

Team R&B started out finding dolphins. There were lots and little ones too! there was a line moving fast and they were all just having another fun dolphin day.
Then they found Nalu R3CX was on the rocks snoozing. He was alone and resting peacefully. His natural bleach on the left side of his head was visible.   They spotted some kind of wound or maybe it was just the lighting. Maybe tomorrow they'll get a better view.

It was a slow seal day for Team R&B, the only other seal they found
was the little guy Mauna RQ24. He was in the same place as yesterday, but today there were people down near him, fishermen, kids and on and on.  They saw a fresh tako near him, question is: did he throw it up or did some person try to feed him?   Either way he was not interested in the tako and it just stayed there.
