Their first find on the west side was the little green kid RV20. He seems fine and doing okay. No one was bothering him while they were there.

They checked back with him later in the day and he was still there.

Their second find was the lovely Miss Kala RH76. She was in the pond and hiding really good. While watching over Kala they saw a woman doing yoga on a board being filmed.

Next they spotted a seal on shore where the dog incident happened yesterday. They headed over and away from the house where the dog went was RP28 Wakea. They saw DLNR was talking to someone at the house. Good their looking into what happened.

While they were close to Makaha they saw a seal from afar so they drove over to ger a better look, but now there were two seals.

One was RL42 Leia and it took them longer to ID the other seal. The area has a lot of erosion which made it difficult to get closer. The other seal was a male that got washed off the rocks. As he approached RL42 they saw the scar on his head, it was R617.

They had a long day, but made one last stop at nimitz. There on shore
was R407 Kawika. It was a long walk out to the spot where he was resting. He was alone, resting in the sub. He's doing fine and his little plover buddy was also doing just fine.

October 20, 2026 Tuesday's Dailies

On the west side once again they found Miss Kala RH76. She still hiding from the males, getting her rest. Nothing new to report on this lovely female seal from Rabbit Island.

At another west side location they found RN14 Kalani on the rocks. The boys certainly keep Team R&B on their toes. He started to vocalize so they weren't sure if there was another seal.  No... just three people on the rocks to the right. RN14 took off and went around and was going to land again but there were people there. Last seen he was heading towards the outfall.

From afar they saw a big seal trying to haul up on shore at tracks. They thought this could be RN14 but couldn't be sure. Immediately a group of people went to check out the seal.

Next they headed over to plains. Upon arrival they saw a seal on shore with a nice zone set up. The seal is very green and they were able to ID R416 Makalii. He looks like he'll molt soon.

They got word from posse pal Carol that a seal hauled out on the west side. Off they went and found Kawika R407. He was alone, chilling high up on shore. It was nice there were no people around, and he could rest peacefully.

They got a disturbing video from a friend of a black pit bull going after a monk seal on shore. They immediately went down not knowing when the incident

happened or who the seal was. In the video they could see the seal was newly molted, and not too big. 

Upon arrival the seal on shore was RP28 Wakea.  They went to the area where the dog approached the seal and saw the wallow high up on shore by the houses, then a seal trail going away from the homes. Seems RP28 traveled on shore for about 30 feet.  They checked him out there was no blood, no teeth marks and he seemed relaxed.  They believe the video was taken down. What sounded like a close call turned out to be okay.

Lastly they found a seal at cliffs. The seal was alone on the rocks resting. It was difficult to see, but it was an adult, newly molted no tags seen as the seal didn't move. They believe this could be RL42 Leia

October 4, 2026 Sunday's Dailies

On the west side they saw Miss Kala RH76 moving about on shore. Her molt is going fast. She went way up in the rocks, lets hope nobody bothers her.

They made it over to Makaha where they found Mr. Nalu R3CX. He was alone and is also molting. They estimate about 45% molted.

From afar they saw another seal. A woman let them enter the area

through her gate for a better look. The area they usually walk down is gone and is now about a 5 foot drop.  The seal had a tag, although they couldn't get a good read they are thinking this is RL42 Leia, who is 100% molted.   Hopefully they'll get confirmation on her ID.

Over by the outfall area they saw a green seal foraging with it's red tags. They believe this is RM31 Kai. The fishers had lines out, lots of them which concerned Team R&B with the seal foraging nearby. The

fishers caught two rainbow runners within 5 minutes.

Lastly they checked out Nimitz since there had been so many fishing poles out yesterday. When they got there today the fishers were gone.  R407 Kawika was high up on shore, molting about 20%. Seems the seals are having a molting frenzy.   There were some cute shore birds near by.
