3/27/2016 DB's Dailies: RG32&UU@Rabbit Island, DB Benny&Kekoa@Guard Rails, Kimo Kai @ Tracks, Team Billand

Ordinarily I would start at the beginning and work through the happenings of the day, but as I sit here at the moment I am still stunned by the frantic call from Team Billand at 1556 from Tracks on the west side. “It’s Kimo Kai...they are rolling him up on the beach now... He’s dead !!!” Shortly thereafter came a call from Dana, advising that she had been fielding calls from HPD and others about this incident. She had sent the Billands to the scene. NOAA personnel retrieved the body. This is a young healthy 5 (almost 6) year old male. Rocky’s son from 2010. Yesterday he and his pals were all hangin’ out at Maili Pt, just a few flipper flaps down the beach. This is just completely out of nowhere. I’m in shock. My heart goes out to the Billands who are on the front row as this sad , sad story unfolds. This just sucks! (sorry I do not mean to offend anyone but I have no other way to say it....) My heart goes out to Team Billand <3 as to all of us you care about these animals

Please forgive me for being brief with the rest of today’s news. My heart just isn’t in it.

The Rabbit Island cast was an U/U & RG32, along with two bad guys, whom DOCARE met when they got back to Makai Pier.

The Billands reported Benny (RE74) at Guard Rails at 0614. Kekoa (RK72) would haul out to join Benny at 0747.

The Billands reported Kolohe (RW22) at Maili Point at 0815. He would depart and then return.

3/26/2016 DB's Dailies: Cass,Kainoa,RG32&UM@Rabbit Island - Ka'ena @ Ka'ena Point - Aukai, Squinty & Luana @ Ka'ena Point - Kekoa,Kolohe&Kimo Kai, Maili Point - Benny@Guard Rails, Buster@White Plains, Rocky@Iroquois Point, -Pohaku @ Secrets - RI37 @ Army Beach, Mokuleia

At 0852 I found what would end the day being an U/M, at the far left end of the beach on Rabbit Island. I just could not confirm an ID. Maybe tomorrow. He would relocate to 3BS at 1104.

Also at 0852 I found Cass (RG06) fronting 3BS, and Kainoa (RN04) on the water front rocks of Rocky Right Beach.

At 1003 RG32 would haul out to join Cass at 3BS. The U/M would join them at 1104.

At 0650 Team Billand reported Pohaku (RO28) at Secrets. Mahalos to Warren & Jean. Pohaku departed at 1428.

At 0934 the Billands got a call reporting that Rocky had over nighted at Iroquois Point. They confirmed the Rocky (RH58) ID at 1127.

At 1001 Marilyn checked in from the End of the World. She& Lesley did the trek to the point. They were joined by Coise as far as Hidden Beach. Marilyn reported Ka’ena (RO40), Squinty(R330) and 2 females at the Main Pool. She would later confirm the females as Aukai (RL12) & Luana (RN58).

At 1007 Team Billand reported that White Plains lifeguard Dennis reported the arrival of an animal. At 1030 they confirmed the Buster (RV08) ID, however the adoring hordes would not allow him any peace at all , and he departed at 1038.

At 1310 they reported Benny (RE74) at Maili Guard Rails.

At 1339 the Billands reported the arrival of Kolohe (RW22) & Kekoa (RK72) to Maili Point. They would be joined by Kimo Kai (RT12) at 1346. Kimo Kai & Kekoa would depart at 1408. Kolohe remained.

At 1546 Lesley M., called having responded to a call about an animal at Army Beach, Mokuleia. She confirmed the RI37 ID.
