At 0850 I found what would prove to be Kainoa (RN04) snoozin’, 50 ft left of 2BS on Rabbit Island. ID was by his N0 bleach. He would remain all day.

On a pan at 1042 I discovered a animal between the 1st and 2nd caves, at the right end of RI. Sighting there are rare. It would take 3 hours but it would prove to be Aukai (RL12). ID was by her N12 bleach.

At 0709 Team Billand reported an overnighted Kermit (R012) at Wind Sock. He was gone on their 1340 check.

At 1143 volunteer Trudy advised the Billands of the arrival of an animal to Tower#2, White Plains. The Billands would confirm the Haupu (RB24) ID at 1428.

At 1548 the Billands reported RIP (RR70) and Kerby (RW08) at Maili Pt. Beach goers advised that there had been yet another animal there earlier.

Dana checked in a 1600 with word of La’akea (RK82) and RI37 at Right Spot’s Spot, Turtle Bay. She further advised that Meli was happy and well at the birth beach.

In the Yesterday’s News department, Kimo Smith got cable back and sent Ka’ena Point shots from yesterday’s trek. He found Ka’ena (R040) at his tide pool, and Luana & the new little female together on the back beach. On the way home he found R018 at Mokuleia Beach Park.

Kimo did another KP run today, and found Ka’ena (RO40), Luana (RN58) & RL42.

We all know this is sooo wrong... but again there are times when I am reminded unless people are made aware... they really don't know they are doing something wrong. I mention this here because this is a typical photo opp.... seal sleeping... and a person kneels close by.
I am really !!! look how cute she is... we're just lucky people aren't trying to pick them up.

1-14-2013 DB Dailies

At 0718 I found RIP (RR70) once again fronting Right Greenery on Rabbit Island. He would depart at 1120. I did not see him again today.

At 0910 I found Mojo (RI17) and Kolohe (RW22) together at Rocky Right Beach, RI. They would remain all day.

On a pan at 0935 I found Buster (RV08), 30 ft right of 1BS on RI. He would enter the water at 1032, and hauled out again to the far left end of the beach at 1237.

At 1004 I found Kekoa (RK72) just moving down to the far left end of the beach . He would be joined by Buster at 1237. They would enter the water together at 1249 for a swim/play session, hauling out together , 80 ft left of 1BS at 1400.

Team Billand reported Makaiwi (R4DF) fronting #1708, White Plains at 0708. It wouldn't be a routine day at WP, without at least a few idiots inside the zone, but Makaiwi remained at the end of the day.

At 0741 Kimo checked in from Ka'ena Point with the report of Ka'ena (RO40) and Noa (R6FI). Cianna would call at 1554 with a harassment report of two seals at KP. Kids throwing rocks. I presume it was these two.

At 0859 Cianna reported an animal at Malaekahana. She would call at 1036 with a confirmation report of T21M. He was there yesterday also. I got Zeeny's shots today confirming a molting T21M.

At 1018 the Billands reported M&M (R020) at #1707, WP. She would depart at 1740.

At 1156 Cianna called with the report of an animal at Turtle Bay. Dana called at 1300 to confirm the Right Spot (R016) ID.

At 1446 Team Billand found Kermit (R012) at Campbell Industrial Park. The Billands responded to a Cianna call about harassment of an animal at Nimitz Beach at 1554.

At 1600 they found Irma (R010) at Wind Sock. They observed no harassment at that time. Irma departed at 1820.

12-23-11 DB's Dailies Kaiwi@SB, Irma@MB, Buster,M38&Nani@RI, RO28@Elec.Bch, Kermit@KR, Ka'ena&761@KP

I was batting zero on the morning circuit until I arrived at Makapuu Beach at 0650. There I found Irma (R010), at the base of the hill leading down to the beach. I cordoned her off and she has remained all day. Irma departed at 1823.

I continued the adventure, hitting all the regular spots. Gayle was also out trodding the territory. We weren't having any luck. At 0940 I pulled into Crappy Cove for the umpteenth time and therrrrrrre was the familiar little rump stickin' out of the Naupaka. Kaiwi (RK96) was back. She moved down into the water front rocks at 1150. Much thanks to Gayle,Kathy,Marie,Z&P and Marilyn for answering the call.
I hadn't seen anybody on Rabbit Island on my early morning check, however when I got back to Makai Pier at 1257 I found Buster (RV08), Nani (RK60), and RM38 all at the left end of the beach, each about 20 ft apart, There was never any observed interaction. I was especially happy to see Buster since he has been MIA since 12-12-11. I was hoping he was off molting but he is just as crusty as ever.

Team Billand checked in at 0725 reporting Pohaku (RO28) at Electric Beach.

A 0839 they found Kermit (R012) at Kermit's Reef, on the west side of the Nimitz Jetty.

Marilyn did the Ka'ena Point trek today and found Ka'ena (RO40) and what I believe to be 761. They were playing in the water for most of Marilyn's stay, and access to them was difficult because of hordes of people, (who had no qualms at all about up close and personal access). Only Ka'ena hauled out

Buster - Nani - RM38 (amazing since DB is sitting at the pier)
