11/30/2022 Wednesday's Dailies

Todays dailies are brought to you by Marilyn and Team R&B💕

Marilyn was happy to be able to be back on the pier today. She viewed Rabbit Island from 1:30 to 2:45 and there were three seals on island today.
Behind the waterfront rocks near 3BS was  a seal with only a partial view. Marilyn reported this seal as an unknown unidentified U/U. When she checked back later the seal disappeared either going behind the rocks or may have snuck away into the water.
Together at SRI among the rock flats were two seals:
Unknown Adult: subadult to adult size, darker belly, unknown gender and not sure about tags.
Unknown Male: subadult to adult size, light male belly and not sure about tags.

Team R&B started their day with word of a seal at electric beach. The seal had just hauled up, and when they got to the area there was Nalu R3CX.  He was alone resting comfortably.  A friend had let them know he had been visited by a dog, and thankfully the dog left the area.

Next Team R&B got a call about two seals on shore.  Of course they headed over, but when they got there, they found three seals.
Kekoa Alii RK72, Kaale RH32 and Lefty RG28 were all on shore pretty close together. They called the hotline and waited.
The boys were arguing some, there were signs up so people would stay away. Then the argument got a little crazy and suddenly there was a fourth seal arriving.  It was Kalani RN14 hauling up and another argument started. Kekoa Alii had enough so he left heading in the Honolulu direction.
Now there were just three, Kaale, Lefty and Kalani on shore.
Team R&B called the hotline again.
They were just about to leave the site, but they see another seal coming in. It was Kekoa Alii RK72 coming back. This time he stayed.  Just then Melina arrived and so did a volunteer.
They hung out for a bit longer and then they called it a day.

11/29/2022 Tuesday's Dailies

Todays dailies are brought to you by Team R&B💕

They started their day at the bay. There was a homeless guy on the rocks with Kala RH76. They watched but didn't say anything. They guy saw them and walked over to explain that he saw the seal coming in. He said the seal waved it's flipper at him, so he knew the seal didn't need any help. hmmmmmm.
Anyhoo !!  Kala is looking plump and healthy.

Next they saw a seal trying to haul in at Kahe but the waves were just
slamming it about. Team R&B couldn't see much of the seal, don't know its gender or if it had tags. The seal decided to move on so it was reported as a unknown unidentified.

It was bad enough to not get an ID on one seal, but at their next stop they ran into another. This seal just wouldn't move just sleeping.  They even left and came back, the seal moved up but still the same problem. The seal was reported as an unknown sub-adult.
There was a honu on shore with people right there close by.

They decided to make the trek out to Ka'ena West since it was a slow seal day. The waves were huge but they got lucky and spotted a seal snoozing. It was way up on shore and its tags were showing. There was RQ24 Mauna looking good.

Today was the day! Finally after two hours of watching the horizon they saw spouts!
There were actually four whales, which delighted Team R&B!  They shared their binoculars with tourist who were thrilled to see the whales! Team R&B said even the homeless guy was surprised to see the whales spouting!

11/28/2022 Monday's Dailies

Todays dailies are brought to you by Team R&B💕

They had spent a good amount of time from early morning searching for seals and had no sightings.  Even the dolphins and turtles weren't around.  So they decided to check out KoOlina.
Well good that they did! On the rocks was RH32 Kaale and RG28 Lefty was on shore by the rocks.
They called the hotline immediately.  While waiting they spotted Kekoa Alii RK72 coming in. He hauled in and had words with both RH32 and RG28
They called thee hotline again and unfortunately no one arrived.  After awhile they just took od putting up some signs and educating the tourist. Everyone was decent except that one person who wouldn't listen and did not respect the signs.
In the end RK72 didn't stay long, probably had to do with RG28 going after him.
Team R&B headed out about 1 pm, after being soaked from the rains.

11/27/2022 Sunday's Dailies

Todays dailies are brought to you by Marilyn, posse pal Justin T and Team R&B💕

Posse pal Justin hiked Kaena point today and came across four Hawaiian monk seals.  On the way out from the Waianae side by Queens pool he saw RM30 Kai, ID'd by her M30/31 tags. There was another seal similar in size but they could see its flippers to get an ID, the seal did have an old CC scar on its right side. So it was reported as a unknown unidentified.
At the point they found RO40 Ka'ena, he was on back beach and identified by his 055 tags. He is looking green.  RL74 Kami was in the main pool at the point.

Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from the beach park today from 11:52 to 12:49 and there were two seals.
When Marilyn arrived there was an unknown adult near the 1BS and what turned out to be a Subadult Male Lanikai side of the 3BS.
At 11:58 the U/A entered the water and showed up near the 3BS at
12:06. The U/A galumphed up to the S/M
U/A - adult size, dark coat, not sure about gender or tags.
S/M - subadult size, newer coat, two red tags and light gray male belly.

Team R&B started checking many of the areas early this morning. There were dolphins and tons of people out an about. Then from afar they spotted a seal hauling up on shore. It was Kaale RH32. He had all kinds of people visiting him, he's like a magnet!

At one of the areas they could see a seal on the rocks. It was very well hidden making getting any
information a challenge. They saw cc scars and there is a cc scar where his cyst was, they were able to ID RL08.
While watching over RL08 they noticed the coast guard and lifeguards on jet ski. There was a search going on, and in the end they found a divers bouy and rope but no diver.
As this was taking place they spotted a seal pass by fast. It turned out to be Nalu R3CX who hauled out and joined RL08.

At another west side location there on the rocks was the lovely Kala RH76.  Today there was a nice cool breeze, Kala was alone on the rocks and doing just fine.

Team R&B made the Ka'ena West trek today. There on the rocks was a seal snoozing and people going down towards it. They were aware they were being watched, so they were respectful. The seal was RP30 Puka who let out a sneeze.  He looks to be doing just fine and looks healthy.
Then they saw some movement and realized there was another seal. There was brother RM41 Kai, so once again the brothers are just chilling in different spots at the same location.

Lastly Team R&B spotted some very cute cows!
