In yesterday's news Tammy had a surprise day off so she headed out to Ka'ena Point.

She came across four seals. The first pair were on the runway. Tammy "believes" the seal on the left is TA68 Lopaka and the seal on the right is R330 Squinty.

The next two seals were on the rocks outside Ka'ena's pool. They were ID'd as RL47 Kamakana and RN58 Luana.  

Tammy also captured an awesome photo of an Albatross.

Team R&B's first find was at the outfall where there were multiple seals foraging and fighting in the water. They ID'd Lefty RG28 with another seal that they could not confirm.  RM31 Kai hauled out on the rocks and eventually Lefty RG28 hauled out by him.

From a distance they saw a large seal haul out at Electric Beach. There were people right there and they got up close and personal. They were getting their photos.  (honestly just once I wish one of the

seals would literally scare the crap out of these fools).  Team R&B called the hotline to report.

Team R&B headed out to Nimitz to see if there were any seals. They were happy to find the boys out on the reef sound a sleep. They ID'd RN14 Kalani and R407 Kawika.

Last stop they headed to Kahe and were happy to see RH32 Kaale

hauled out ion the rocks. (away from the foolish folks at EB).

Then R617 came in and hauled up by Kaale.  Kaale left the area, but soon after RM31 Kai came up and hauled up next to R617.  The boys were keeping Team R&B on their toes today.

Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 1:08 to 3:02 and there were eight seals seen during that time.

On LPB were the following when Marilyn first arrived:

RH76 Kala and PO8 were near the waterline. They entered the water at about 1:56 and hauled out again at 2:28 pm.

In the middle of LPB was RK37 Huia about 60% molted. Her ventral is completely molted and the new skin and fur are showing on her head and up her sides.

There were two seal between Middle Cliff and 3BS:

Adult Female: adult size, older coat, yellowish female belly and at least one red tag.

With the Adult Female was an Adult Male: adult size, dark coat, dark male belly and at least one red tag.

At about 2:15 pm Marilyn became aware that another seal had joined the AF and had run the AM off. It took awhile but she was able to ID the newcomer as TA68 (adult male from Laysan that showed up on on Oahu in 2023. TA68 ID'd by two pit scars on his right side and another pit scar in the mid right side, rectangular natural bleach on his belly. The AM then entered the water down from the 3BS.

At about the time Kala and PO8 hauled out the Adult male who had been between Middle Cliff and 3BS with an AF (earlier), hauled out to RK37.

At 2:36 pm, TA68 hauled out on LPB and immediately challenged the AM near RK37. The AM moved away and later left LPB and then returned to the AF, only to again be run off when TA68 returned.

At 2:52 pm, Aukai RL12 and her adopted pup PO3 hauled out of the channel at RRB.

Team R&B started their morning at the outfall. It was a difficult morning in that there were multiple seals in the outfall stealing dish from everybody. The fishers were not happy at all. They asked how they could get rid of them?  They keep keep stealing the fish.  Team R&B just replied there was nothing they could do.  It must be frustrating for them, but then again the seals live in the ocean. 

Team R&B stayed quite a while trying to make all the IDs.  They know that the master thief RH32 Kaale was there today. Lefty RG28 was also on site.  They were pretty sure RL20 Kalua was there too. But there was this one seal came so close to the jetty and just glared at all of them.  Very handsome but they just don't know who it was.  

They checked all the usual spots on the west side but didn't find any other seals.  They did see the dolphins out at Pokai Bay along with the boats and people. 

Then the rains came so they called it a day.

Also as a side note the big news today which made all the news outlets, we have another pup born at Kaimana Beach.  Kaiwi RK96 gave birth sometime in the early morning to Oahu's newest pup!

Marilyn made a quick visit to the pier and viewed Rabbit Island between 11:15 to 12 noon. 

Only Pua RF34 and PO3 were seen during that time. They were in snooze mode in front of waterfront rocks between Middle Cliff and 3BS. 

Tammy went out to Ka'ena with Lesley and spotted five seals today. Not to mention the Albatross chicks getting big showing more adult feathers.

Their first find was Holokai RG40. Next was R330 Squinty showing off his natural bleach on his chest. 

Then they found R418 Kamea and R420 Kaipo.  Last but not least at the point was TA68 Lopaka. He gets around since he was just at Rabbit Island last week.

Team R&B had a little bit of a better day than yesterday. Their first find was RM31 Kai. He was alone today snoozing on the rocks.

Heading over to Nimitz they got to watch the dolphins out on a show as usual.  They found RN14 Kalani alone on the reef.  There were some fishers out there today, hopefully everyone will be respectful.

Lastly while stuck in traffic due to the work on the bridge, Team R&B's seal radar went off. They spotted two seals and went to take a look.  It was R413 Makamae and RL08.

There were two orange flags up to the right. R413 is looking really large today. The five year old RL08 was trying to be romantic and R413 wasn't having it.
