October 29, 2023 Sunday's Dailies

Todays dailies are brought to you by Marilyn and Team R&B 💕

Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 12:42 to 2:50 and there were seven seals on island during that time.
On LPB was Adult Male 1 : adult size, about 75% molted, light to medium gray male belly and two red tags. The ventral size is almost completely molted and the dorsal surface about half molted.
About 40 feet Makapuu of 1BS was Adult Male 2 : adult size, also about 75% molted, medium gray male belly. Marilyn didn't see any
tags. Most of the ventral size except the rear flippers are molted and the dorsal surface is about half molted.
About 20 feet Lanikai side of Middle Cliff was a Juvenile Female: juvenile size, newer coat with light gray female belly and two red tags.
About 30 feet Makapuu seid of 3BS was an Adult Female :adult size, newer coat, partially sand-covered female belly and two red tags.
Near SRI were three seals near each other:
Subadult Male: small subadult size, male belly and two red tags. It appears the SM is molting and probably about 40%.
Near the SM was a Female Weaner: weaner to juvenile size, tannish coat, female belly and two tags.
Near the FW was RK24 Bruno/Wawamalu: small adult size, new coat and light gray male belly and two red tags.

Team R&B first find was RM31 Kai and RH76 Kala, which thrilled them to no end. Kala kept looking at him, probably making sure he wasn't going to bother her.  Kai was a little gentleman and left her alone. He's looking a little thin but nothing to be worried about at this time.

At another west side location they spotted RL08. He was alone on lower rocks just resting.
To the right, just pass seal inlet was the lovely fat R604.

Next stop was at tracks, where they found R3CX Nalu way up in the greenery again. This time they were able to see his molt has started on his neck/chest area.
RH32 Kaale was near by, but doesn't look to have started his molt.
Team R&B called the hotline to let them know the beach was packed with beach-goers and surfers.

Last stop at Kahe cove they were thrilled to find RQ42 Opihi. Well it seems he started to molt and it can be seen on his hind flippers.
Basically in the same area they found RG32.
Also there is a pack of dogs in the area..... I hate seeing this for many reasons.

September 19, 2023 Tuesday's Dailies

Todays dailies are brought to you by Tammy, Marilyn and Team R&B💕

Tammy met up with Lesley and headed out to Ka'ena Point. Their first find was Luana RN58. Next find out at the point was RS20. RS20 is Luana's pup from earlier this year.
Next was RJ40, who is a Molokai seal that had her first pup this year. She's newly molted looking beautiful.  Tammy and Lesley thought it was going to be an all girl seal day but then when they weren't looking RW02 Pv Kauai hauled out.

Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from about 12:55 to 2:05 and there was only one seal during her viewing sesssion.
Out on RRB was an Unknown Subadult: subadult to juvenile size, older coat, other than that not much information since she never saw its ventral side or rear flippers.

Team R&B started at the outfall and they spotted two seals stealing fish from the poor fishers. The bigger seal was Kaale RH32 and he took off.
The smaller green seal was RL20 Kalua. He actually stole a fish and ate it in plain view for all to see. They spotted the hook on his lower lip, no line seen but the shank is visible.

At a different location they saw a seal resting on the edge of the rocks. By the time they made it out, there were three guys walking towards the resting seal. One fuf with shorts ran over and yelled at the seal waving his arms and jumping in the water. The seal was R604 and she took off. They didn't see R604 again.
Next they were happy to spot Opihi RQ42 on lower rocks resting.  They were happy to see him back again.

They went back to Kahe and finally RH32 Kaale had hauled out along side of RL20.  Kaale's tag was visible and the boy is looking big. RL20 is so green they weren't able to see the hook on this haul out. He barely moved probably tired from stealing all the fish but he seemed just fine.

They ended their day finding Miss Kala RH76. They were happy to see she had returned to her rocky spot to rest.
