Starting their day on the west side they spotted a seal foraging The seal had dark eyes and green coat. They weren't sure about tags but they feel confident this is Kai RM31. He is looking great and quite handsome.

While observing Kai they noticed a poor turtle with several tumors.  They also watching a boobie fishing.

Once again they saw the cute sub-adult foraging close to the jetty on

the rest camp side. The little buggah wouldn't show them enough to make an ID. It was sub-adult size and clean coat. It like to hang out by the jetty where people fish and surf.

Team R&B had spent a good amount of time checking around for R617 and RH76. On an additional check they watched as the waves got really big suddenly. Lifeguards posted a sign brown water warning. The waves were so strong they shot up the shore and there were rocks flying on the wall. They got word of two seals there

earlier. Then there they were R617 and  RH76 Kala. He was trying so hard to get closer to her and she wasn't happy about it.

Over at the outfall they spotted an adult seal foraging. They were not able to get a clean photo for an ID so it was reported as an Unknown Adult.

From afar they were scanning the nearby beaches and saw a seal haul out. It was big, they tried to determine who it was, but couldn't.  There were people going up to the seal, a couple of dogs loose, not a good

scenario.

They ended their day with yet another Unknown at kahe. The seal swim slowing by heading in the KoOlina direction. They couldn't get enough information for an ID.  Needless to say they were frustrated. The good news they had a busy seal day. And they saw a very cute dog.

September 16, 2026 Wednesday's Dailies

Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 12:50 to 3:06 pm and there were six seals seen during that time.

On LPB were the two weaners:

RV76: large weaner size, female belly and two red tags.

RV50: small weaner size,  female belly and three red tags.

Down from the 3BS was a Juvenile Female: juvenile size, old coat with lots of green and two red tags. The SF later entered the water and after a short while hauled out between the 3BS and SRI.

About 40 feet further towards the SRI was a Sub-Adult Female: sub-adult too adult size, old coat with some green, female belly unsure about tags.

At 1:58 pm an Adult Female joined the SF. The AF was adult size, new coat female belly, unsure about tags.

At 2:26 pm, a Sub-adult Male joined the SF and AF: the SM then re-entered the water, but hauled out again later. The SM had a new coat, gray male belly, not sure about tags.

Team R&B started on the west side. It took them a while but they finally found Kala RH76 with RG32. The two of them were so well hidden. At one point RG32 tried to get closer to Kala and she gave him a whack in the face with her hind flippers..... he settled.

Foraging over by the rest camp side was a smaller seal. People around saw the little seal, it kept going up and down the shore, but never hauled out. They couldn't make an ID so it was reported as an Unknown Sub-adult.

At kahe they spotted something moving on the rocks. There was RP28 Wakea being cute. He has a scar on his "ankle" area, which helps with his ID, also the cc scar on his belly.

Next stop they spotted RP30 Puka in the same area. He is molting, but they were unable to tell how

much because of his position.

Lastly they stopped at Makaha to check the area. The storm has made this beach bigger and there is more sand. The whole right of way is full of sand. The Kona low changed an area, brought 5 foot tall rocks. Then hurricane Lowell took all those rocks away. There were no seals there today BUT the turtles were grazing, so Team R&B stayed and watched.
