11/12/2010 DB Dailies

She was not there on my 1st look, but when I got back to Irma's at 0642, there was Irma waiting for me.  I cordoned her off and she has remained there the rest of the day.

My first Rabbit Island look had been a bust, however when I got back to Makai Pier at 0910 I found Duke tucked into the base of the cliff at the right end of Middle Cliff. He would later move down to cool off, and remained there the rest of the day. He had RI all to himself today.

At 0928 Team Billand reported Benny, just hauling out at Maili Point. At 0956 they called to say that RO28, the Kauai female previously seen at KP had hauled out approximately 100 yds away from Benny. Her new CC scar , while still gross, is beginning to heal.

At 1115 Team Billand found Kermit at Kermit's Reef , on the west side of the Nimitz jetty.

Team Billand called again at 1335 with news that their posse member Clay had reported T21M at IRQ.

Dana called at 1153 with the report of a red tagged animal at Hauula that was just being cordoned off. Though a probable R5AY, am awaiting confirmation on tags or photo evidence.

From the Yesterday's News department, I got shots from Kelly Evans of yesterday's Right Spot sighting at her favorite spot mid way between the TB hotel and the Keiki Pool. The N6 bleach and her notched RHF are clearly visible. Thank You Kelly.

Diane Gabriel did the Ka'ena Point trek today, and brought back proof of Ka'ena and Kerby at the end of the world.

I certified Rabbit Island as Monk Seal Free today. Fortunately, we did have animals at Spitting Cave to save the day. We found Kolohe and Buster there. The dive times were erratic due to play activity. Well.... Kolohe was playing, Buster was just trying to eat.

Team Billand checked in at0717 with the report of Irma, once again, at White Plains. According to witnesses she had begun the day near tower #1, but when the Billand found her she was down the beach a bit, fronting #1708.

The highlight of the day came at 0820 with an excited call from Barbara. "KERMIT !!!!!". Yep.... Kermie is back. They found him at Nimitz Cove, and he later relocated to the bunkers a bit down the beach to the

west. He had last been seen on 9-28-10. Welcome home Kermit !!

Dera called at 0920 with the report of animals at Kammie's (Sunset Beach), which would turn out to be KC, and at Backyards (Sunset Beach), which proved to be Right Spot. Thank you Todd for the confirmations. Check Todd's blog,http://www.northshoremonks.blogspot.com/

Team Kenyon did the Ka'ena Point trek today, and were rewarded with a day spent with Ka'ena, Kerby, Kiko, and what would prove to be Benny, as well as our continuing riddle animal that may or may not be CeeCee. I'm leaning that way, as is Keith. Hopefully Tracy will check in with a highly paid opinion.

On my 0714 Spitting Cave check I found Buster, once again doing 14 minute dives.

My first look at Rabbit Island had been a bust, however when I got back to Makai Pier at 0915 I found somebody hiding behind the log fronting 3BS. Ultimately, the critter would move into view and would prove to be Duke. He was the one and only RI resident today.

Team Billand reported Irma near tower #1 at White Plains at 0645. They and several others once again performed Above & Beyond duty, dealing with the usual bumper crop of the WP mob.

Marilyn did the Ka'ena Point trek today, and found Kerby, Ka'ena, and I'm going to have to call an U/M. I may have to fess' up to yet another "Oooops" on this guy. He is a smallish, untagged, newly molted male. I know he is newly molted because Karen Harris got shots of him on the Waianae side trail back on 10-21-10. I called it CeeCee at the time, and it might very well be, but I'm beginning to have some doubts on that ID. This animal has a "C shaped" scar under the right fore flipper, which I can not prove on CeeCee, as well as some other small scars. As I said, this may be CeeCee, but it might be a new guy also. Hopefully Team Kenyon is going to provide some insight tomorrow.

10/25/2010 DB Dailies

Sam had Rabbit Island all to himself on this gray and dismal day. I found him at 0651 at the cliff, left of 1BS. He never moved down, and for that matter, barely moved.
Team Billand called at 0613 with the report of Irma at WP. She may well have overnighted since she was lying near the signs. She would depart between 1230 and 1300.

The Billands called again at 0920 with the report of Benny at Guard Rail Beach, Maili Pt. Eric got an N26 bleach on his left side.

Eric also redid M&M's N23 bleach at Ka'ena Point today. She also got a left side, mid body bleach.

Team Billand got a call about an animal at White Plains at 1528. When they arrived they found Irma...again, same spot as her morning visit.

Karen Turner found Ua Malie at Fishermen's Point, Turtle Bay, and what she thought might be Lona on the Kahuku side of the point. Unfortunately, photo evidence does not provide enough info to make that ID.

 Irma cracks me up, she still curious like the young'ens and she does have a thing for signs. Jury out on whether she likes them or not.
