05/12/2021 Wednesday Monk Seal Dailies

Today's dailies are brought to you by Team R&B💕.  We also have a Kaiwi and P02 update from yesterday from Melody.

Team R&B started their day by watching a seal forage in the outfall and realized it was their boy Kaale RH32.  He was up to his old habits of stealing fish, and foraging. The boy never landed so they headed out looking for others.

The only other find today for Team R&B was Kalani RN14. The big

boy was snoozing away in peace on the rocks. Just as they were heading over they saw folks rushing over and climbing down the rocks. They did their best to hurry over but one guy got their and was very close to Kalani. Kalani reacted by barking at him. By the time Team R&B got close enough two more people were there and getting closer and closer to Kalani. They were able to shout out to them to "Keep their distance!" It's a shame this is like the fourth time this week poor Kalani has been harassed. 

In yesterday's news department Melody spent a good part of the day with Momma Kaiwi RK96 and pup P02.  Melody was there early morning and as early she arrived Mom and pup were just coming in from a swim.  They settled down on the beach and snoozed until set before noon. The beach was steady with locals and visitors and some folks who just came down to see them.  It's always nice to pass the time talking story about the seals. And then just before noon, Kaiwi and P02 went for a swim way out past the buoy and then they circled around and went over to the jetty where people were waiting to watch them. They did not disappoint and did a couple of swim bys. Kaiwi took the pup back out into deeper water and at one time it looked like she was headed for the beach by the OCC. Then Kaiwi and P02 turned around and went back to the zone.  Melody left a little bit after that.
