Todays dailies are brought to you by Lesley and Team R&B๐. Lesley's Ka'ena update is part two of the dailies.
I want to note that they did find RL20 yesterday, but the email came in too late for me, so I am including yesterdays photos, as well as today's photos of Kalua RL20. Yesterday they found RL20 on the rocks and he looked to be about 25% molted. Today on their first check he was on the rocks again today looking to be about 30% into his molt. On the afternoon check he was in the water foraging near the jetty.
In the bay there were three seals out foraging at once. First there was Lei Ola RH48, she wasn't really
hunting but out there in the middle of the school. R3CX Nalu was with her, he was making some big splashes. They thought the 3rd seal was Aukai RL12, but being so far out it was difficult to get any good photos. On a later check Nalu had hauled out and was alone.Team R&B had checked tracks and there were no seals, just a couple of women on boogie boards. Then Team R&B got to another spot and looked back and saw a seal hauling out. A man approached the seal along with a woman in a pink bikini. Team R&B watched from a distance as these two people sat next to the seal as it was trying to haul up. The guy reached out to the seal, who Team R&B ID'd as RH32, and the woman took the guys photo. Kaale reared up barking at the guy, who got closer, Kaale then leaped up in the air with his mouth open as to bite the guy. (he missed). This went on for a bit, long enough for Team R&B to hurry down to the site, and call the incident into the hotline. The couple had left Kaale and moved away sitting on the shore. When Team R&B did a recheck Kaale was gone and so was the couple.
Their last stop at another west side location they spotted an adult seal looking green, unable to see any tags. They noticed the scars on his head area, and figured it was Da Benny. They stayed with him for a while, but he didn't give them much else to go on.
They saw another seal hauled out at tracks again, looking green but too far away for them to make any kind of ID. The seal was reported as an U/U.
