Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 11:50 to 1:45 and there were three seals on island today. In front of the 3BS was an unknown; subadult size, newer coat and light belly with two tags.
On the rock flats behind SRI there were two seals: U/U; this seals position was head on making the view of this seal limited. Newer coat, and lighter ventral area.
A/M; adult size, old coat, brown belly. He may be starting to molt.
Team R&B were at the bay this morning watching multiple seals foraging along with some fighting. Trying to get their ID with all the movement was not so easy. They were able to ID RH48 Lei Ola, RG28 Lefty, R3CX Nalu and of course RL20 Kalua.
RL20 would later in the day land on the rocks. Nalu eventually hauled out and joined him.
Team R&B headed out to check on Mr Kaale and waited for him on the beach for close to an hour. He was a no show so they went to check the outfall. There were three seals foraging in the outfall. One was Kaale RH32 and they noted his small molt patches on his butt. The other two seals were Aukai RL12 and bosom buddy RN14 Kalani.
Last stop for them they found a little seal so well hidden in the rocks. They had to work really hard to get and ID, it did not cooperate, was not moving but did poop. Finally they were able to figure out it was RM31 Kai
At another spot they came across cutie RP30 Puka. He was also playing hide and seek in the rocks. With much patience and persistence they finally ID'd him.
