Tammy went to Ka'ena point today with Lesley. Their first find was Kawika R407, and next was RG28 Lefty. Lefty's molt is progressing and they noted how stinky he is. A little ways away they found RO40 Ka'ena and not to far was R330 Squinty. Thankfully all these critters made for an easy ID.
What made for an interesting day, as they were entering the NAR, Tammy asked Lesley when was the last time she saw BG R303, thinking it was about time she should be returning. Lo and behold today they came across BG. She wasn't very cooperative, but with lots of photos and Lesley double checking scars, she confirmed BG is back. She is a lot skinnier than when she left. One can guess she pupped, weaned the pup and then traveled back from where ever she was. Along with BG they found RW02 PvKauai and RL98 Lina.
Team R&B started at the bay and spotted RL20 foraging and getting some "good grinds". They see a second seal who they ID'd as RH48 Lei Ola. Team R&B couldn't see any line, but then again she was in the water. And then there were three, Aukai RL12 was with them. All three were foraging all day. Later in the day the only one to land was RL20. He still has line from the left corner of his mouth, but he appears okay.
At another west side location they found Kala RH76 laying next to RN14 Kalani. They were snoozing, no interaction observed between them.
Lastly Team R&B walked out on a beach on the far west side. They thought there was a seal on shore, but it was a big rock. When they walked back there was Nalu R3CX snuggled in the rocks. They has passed right by him and didn't see him at first.
