We actually have two updates from Lesley, yesterday (Thursday) and today (Friday), they are part 2 and 3 of the dailies.
An email from posse pal Vicki who we haven't heard from in a while brought a smile to my face. Apparently we just missed each other yesterday, when she was out to check out the north shore and found Honey Girl and PO3.
Team Billand found two critters at 7 am this morning on the west side. On the lower rocks was Ka'ale RH32 and RH48 Lei Ola. While Team Billand was making the ID butthead Ka'ale pooped and pee'd right on que. He's such a teenage boy! Lei Ola had the good sense to move, and then Ka'ale moved too. I wonder if these two will be the Kermit and Irma of their generation.
While on the road, Team Billand watched a pod of dolphins playing offshore, and unfortunately there were a lot of folks in the water with them. Hopefully the dolphins got to get away from them and get some rest.
Team Billand decided to take a ride to the other side and get some "pup" joy into their day. They were able to observe a very busy little one and R5AY a legendary female in out Hawaiian monk seal ohana. Pup was busy going around mom, in the water and when mom would vocalize the pup would come right up to her. (hmmm we'll see how long this last, usually her pups are very independent and defiant. Word was there had been two other critters on site, that they missed, too bad.
Late email from Melody brought news of Rocky RH58. Melody made her way down to the beach for the first time in a couple of weeks and lucky her there was Rocky, she had just hauled out. Melody called security and they brought some signs and they set up the zone. Melody also called the hotline.
Several folks, new and old residents came down to check out the ol' girl. I am sure Melody had a good time talking story about Rocky. Volunteer Kristina joined Melody.
