I do know Lesley and crew did the Ka'ena trek this morning, but Lesley been busy this evening out at the point since it's a holiday weekend. I am sure we'll get her update as soon as she can send it.
Team Billand found two critters just before 9 am. Both seals were on the rocks below the populated area. They ID'd RG28 and RN14 Kalani. RN14 Kalani was very award of the people by him a couple of people fishing. He postured to face look at them, even gave them a few whoops.
Team Billand did check their other areas and came up empty. It was frustrating with so many people out at the beaches, so they gave up and spent time with junior sealette Olivia.
Our pal Val sent an email reaching out to the Oahu Posse asking about an unknown, untagged male that arrived on Kauai. Seal was in full cruise mode, and spent his time going up and down the shoreline before finally hauling out. Val noticed a NB mark on the ventral, scar on top of head and possible right side of face. The Oahu posse best take is Squinty R330. (Lesley just confirmed it is R330 Squinty_
Marilyn and I spent from 2 -3:20 at the Pier observing Rabbit Island. We saw four critters.
RB12 Sadie (presumably, but we both willing to bet our cats on it) and PO4 were on left point beach where they have been since PO4 was born five days ago. There was not a lot of activity from either while we were there. Although when we arrived they were both wet, so we either missed a swimming session, or they were splashed by the shore break.
There were two seals near each other about 30 feet of the 1BS. Uknown/Unknown adult size, darker belly, undetermined gender with two tags.
Unknown Male sub-adult, lighter male belly and not sure if there were tags. Both seals were covered in sand for most of the time, and did not move around much to give us any other clues.
