May 10, 2019 Monk Seal Dailies

Today's dailies are brought to you by Team Billand, and some news from somewhere on Oahu.

It was after 9 am when Team Billand got out to check on a seal. They were dealing with home repair when they got a call from a friend at KoOlina, so Robert decided to go check it out. When he arrived there were kids in front of the seal, so he and a friend did their best to advise them and educate them to keep their distance.

There were signs that were placed by the folks from Campbells. The critter was RH92 , she was in the spot where Benny normally goes, but his naupaka bushes.  While Robert did the best he could educating the folks, back at home Barb had called it into the hotline. Robert reported RH92 condition as good, normal behavior and tags visible. Volunteer arrived just as Robert had to leave.

Early morning Team Billand had received yet another call about a haul out and since they were not able to check it out they just called it to the hotline. Now that Robert was out and heading back to the homestead he made a stop at white plains and found a very very fat Pohaku RO28.
There was a zone put up by the lifeguard, and offered to help out.  Lots of people out and about, and once again Robert did monk seal 101 outreach and education.

FINALLY, Barbara was able to get out and check on her kids. Just before 1 pm Team Billand checked out a westside location. They found Lei Ola RH48 who had just come out of the water hole on rocks.
Her tags were showing  and Barbara was able to share the information with volunteer Tammy who was also on site.

From here Team Billand went to another location nearby and found RG28 on the rocks laying on his side. They were able to see his cookie cutter wound by his left fore flipper was healing.
There were a few folks around that were getting close, and not listening so Team Billand let one of the volunteers to inform them of the situation.
Team Billand hung around for a bit, RG28 came back on the rocks and Team Billand had to leave.
