June 11, 2019 (part 2) Lesley's Ka'ena Update

This is a 2 in one report of monitoring RN58 Luana & PO2 Kalua D34 & 35
Writing in black is from yesterday and white of today.

On both days I did the dawn patrol, checks during the day and sunset.
I'll spare details but share how big little "Kalua" is getting. Today he completed 5 weeks

This morning when they were coming in from their sunrise swim, mom got over the reef but he stayed back and vocalized a lot. He's getting so chubby that those fore flippers don't seem to help him reach out much. I had a fun time watching his attempts  to get over a little step. Finally waves rolled him over and he made it up to mom for a nice nursing session.
Yesterday and today they expanded their swimming area, leaving us on tip toes looking for them.
This evening photos show how his shedding is going fast on the bellie.  More tomorrow ðŸŒº
