At 6 am this morning Team Billand found this seal with numerous cookie scars, tags were showing but they couldn't get a good read. They ID'd RG28 based on the familiar cookie scars, his face and big dark eyes.
On their second check RG28 was now in the water hole pretty much hidden. And on their last check volunteer Melina was there with him.
Then at the outfall Team Billand spotted a green seal, foraging and eating fish. They could not see any tags and unable to determine whether it was a male or female. The seal was young with green face, clean body, did not notice any outstanding markers to make a positive ID.
Team Billand had a short day today as they had some errands to take care of and they were with junior sealette Olivia.
I met up with Marilyn at Makai Pier between 3:30 and 4:45. We found four seals on Rabbit Island.
R1KT on Left Point Beach, ID'd by male belly and N3 applied bleach.
Mom (presumably RB12) and PO4 surprised us today to find them near the 2BS, because up until now they had only been seen on LPB.
They entered the water about 3:40 near the 2BS and later hauled out between the 1BS and LPB at 4:30. Mom and pup seem to be doing good.
UJ alone and located near the water down from 3BS. Juvenile size, very green coat and two tags. We never saw the belly but assume this is one of the two pups born on RI in 2018.
