Team Billand observed RF28 from 6:30 to 9 am. He was by seal inlet a sleep and alone. His applied V28 bleach was visible along with his tag.
While observing him they spotted two seals off shore.
They happen to spot a cute female over to the right bobbing around and looking. They never saw it land just in the water. She was with another seal ID'd as N17 Kalua RL20. Both stayed offshore playing together forever and a day. The unknown female has the cutest looking face, dark around the eyes and green body. They did see tags but could not read them.
At 9 am Team Billand checked a west side beach where they spotted two seals. The seals were off in the distance so they hurried over. They met up with volunteer Melina who there putting up signs around Aukai RL12 and Ka'ale RH32. Team Billand was off to the right taking photos when they noticed there was a man yelling at her. They went to make sure she was okay. Although upset Melina called for assistance. It's really sad when people are out there trying to do what is right protecting the wildlife, and environment and there are a$$hats who think they can be rude. So sorry this happened to Melina today.
Posse pal Melody was at an appointment in Honolulu when she got a text of a seal on the beach. She went to check and there was Kaiwi RK96. At first it was difficult to ID her as she is so brown/green and even her NB was hard to see. Thank goodness she cooperated and showed her flipper tag.
When Melody arrived she called the hotline. The lifeguards had already set up a SRA. There were a couple of dogs on the beach, but they were further away and owners had the dogs under control.
Melody stayed for a couple of hours readjusting the SRA when needed. At first Kaiwi was laying at the waters edge but when the tide came in she turned and headed up by the wall.
Just as Melody was getting ready to leave, a volunteer arrived and that is when Kaiwi decided it was time to go. Little stinker lol.
