06/29/2020 Monday Act-With-Care (97) Monk Seal Dailies

Today's dailies are brought to you by Team Billand and Lesley. Lesley's complete Ka'ena Point update is part 2 of the dailies.

I am sharing a video put together by Melody that she posted on Facebook of Kaimana. Today is her 3rd Birthday.  Happy Birthday Kaimana!

Team Billand arrived at the Jetty before 8 am and noticed a seal hauled out on shore at the next beach over. They made their way over and found Aukai RL12 looking very green and peaceful. They called the hotline right away. They stuck around watching over her. 
There were some dog prints by her but no human prints.  They waited around thinking that Ka'ale would show up but he didn't.
One of the fishermen showed up and wanted a picture of the "fish thief". They tried explaining this was not the fish thief Ka'ale it's a female named Aukai. He didn't care just had to get that photo. 

Just before 10:30 Team Billand found Kala RH76 on a westside beach inland and sleeping alone. She is a big seal, looking green in the face and not any real markers. Thankfully she has N77 applied bleach on her left side.

Later they did a recheck and she was still in the same spot. There were waves covering the area soon to reach her.

Team Billand next find was Kekoa Alii RK72 foraging doing 6 minute dives. The water was pretty rough, making keeping track of him a challenge. 

Last but not least Team Billand checked every nook and cranny

looking for Lei Ola. At one point after looking and looking they heard a snort, and a loud one at that. They went back looking didn't see a seal, but then notices a hind flipper in the air.  Watching intently the seal came up on the rocks with a wave.  Seal came galumphing up stopped in a small corner of the rocks. Another wave came and pushed her up and there she was in all her glory Lei Ola RH48. She is completely molted looking like a pup. So clean and kind of pudgy, what a quick molt and how beautiful she looks.  Needless to say this made Team Billand very very happy.
