Also I want to acknowledge Kawena's 4th Birthday which was on Monday 6/15. Happy Birthday!
I've included a couple photos from Auntie Diane of Kawena and Momma Kaiwi.
Team Billand found Aukai RL12 before 7 am this morning resting on the same west side beach she's been for the past couple of days. She was alone hight up on shore, outside the zone that was set up yesterday. Team Billand made the adjustments to the SRA and called it into the hotline. They stayed and watched over her. There were no problems today, everyone walked around the zone and away from her.
Having said that there were LOTS of footprints all around her, trails of the seal moving to the right and to the left. So it looks like before Team Billand arrived someone or some folks got pretty close to her. Team Billand stayed until 9 am and called the hotline to inform them tey were leaving.
Next find was Ka'ale at the outfall. He was up to his old bad habits stealing fish from the fishermen. They stayed with him for about and hour knowing he wasn't going to haul out anytime soon.
At 10 am Team Billand observed two critters on the rocks. RL20 Kalua was hiding his face in the rocks. RH76 Kala was about twenty feet to the right of L20 resting on the water front rocks. Her applied bleach on left side was visible. She barely moved the entire time they watched over her.
Happy 4th Birthday Kawena (2016 with Mom Kaiwi)
