August 28, 2026 Friday's Dailies

Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 12:09 to 2:15 pm and there were five seals seen during that time.

Out on the rock flats on the Lanikai side of LPB was recent weaner PO13: large weaner size, female belly. no tags. Marilyn last saw her at 12:54 and then she disappeared.

About 20 feet Makapuu side of the 3BS was weaner RV50: weaner

size, light yellow female belly, three red tags and an applied N81 bleach.

Initially between the 3BS and SRI channel were two seals:

Adult Male 1: small adult size, male belly, starting to molt (less than 10%), no tags seen.

Sub-adult Female: sub-adult size, new coat, female belly and two red tags.

Initially alone next to the SRI channel was Adult Male 2: large adult size, male belly, two tags.

At 12:32 pm, Marilyn noticed the A/M 2 had disappeared and then saw that he had hauled out near the A/M 1 and S/F. The A/M 2 moved in on the S/F and ushered her into the water. The two moved along the shore in the water and later hauled out down form the 3BS and about 20 feet from RV50. The pair stayed together through the rest of Marilyn's viewing session.

Team R&B started on the west side and initially didn't see anything in the water or on the rocks. They went back over to the other side and

just waited, and sure enough there was movement. A seal was there scratching, they ID'd RH76 Kala. There were people close by talking loud, then the chanters arrived. Kala was aware of everyone, but stayed put.

Next they headed over to plains. Way to the left side was a seal they ID'd as R407 Kawika. They noted it has been a long time since they have seen him. Over to the right of R407 was RT06 Marvin. He was set up in his own zone.

Heading back to the west side they stopped at the outfall where there were two seals foraging. They were willing to give it another try to get an ID on the mystery green adult. No such luck today, the other seal they wondered if it was RL12 Aukai, since it had a clean coat.

At another west side location they spotted a seal as they were driving by. They stopped to check it out, the seal was alone restingcomfortably. They saw the tag S33, which was a big help. They checked with the posse and this was 3 year old female daughter of RJ58. They were amazed how big, long and healthy she is.
