11/09/2021 Tuesday Monk Seal Dailies

Todays dailies are brought to you by Lesley, Melody and Team R&B💕.  Lesley's Ka'ena update is part two of the dailies. In yesterdays news there is a post of Melody's encounter with seals on the west side.

Team R&B was out on the west side and came across three critters. Seems they are trading places with each other but seeing three boys together is always fun and trouble.  There was Kaale RH32, Kalani RN14 returned taking Lefty's place, and Kawika R407.

Team R&B headed over to paradise cove and upon arrival they found Benny RE74 in a small zone. They called the hotline right away and notified NOAA. The wound/bite on his upper chest left side of the fore flipper. It is hard to tell what kind of bite, cookie cutter? but it seems bigger about 4 to 6 inches big.  Benny used his fore flipper to move the flies away, they were all over him.  They waited for someone to arrive but no one did. Benny would leave and go to a seal that just hauled in. 

The seal was Aukai RL12 who hauled up on the luau end of the beach. Benny approached, looked at her and then left.  Team R&B with the help of a nice lady set up a zone for Aukai and headed out at 11:15.

Next stop was the bay where they only found one seal hauled out. There was R3CX Nalu on the rocks snoozing alone. 

Team R&B's last finds of the the day was the lovely Miss Lei Ola RH48. She was snoozing alone looking fat and healthy.

They also found RM31 Kai hauled out between the rocks laying on some sand. Needless to say he's too cute, and so nice to see him once again.
