Marilyn did not see any seals on Saturday, however today from 11:55 to 1:55 there were two seals.
Not far from the 3BS was a SA/F: juvenile to subadult size, light female belly, two tags and a darker area on the ventral neck area.
Then way out on the RRB rock flats was an A/M: adult size, new coat, gray male belly and at least one tag on RRF. He was partially behind waterfront rocks, which made it difficult to see all of him. Marilyn is reasonably sure this is the adult male that just finished his molt on RI.
Posse pal Justin sent photos of the two seals he spotted today on the east side. It was late afternoon andhe called the hotline to report. The seals were reported as Nohea N2 flipper tags M26/27 as well as an untagged male. Nohea is Kawai's 2020 pup.
Team R&B arrived at the bay early enough to see the dolphins in the bay, foraging and playing. What made this experience even better was R3CX Nalu was out there with them chasing fish.
R3CX was seen later in the day hauled out on the rocks.
Also at the bay Team R&B spotted the naughty seal, RL20 was in the bay then out to a school of akule. He stole fish, as they heard some of the fishers yelling and swearing at the seal.
Leaving the bay, they headed out to check a couple spots. They found their big boy Kekoa Alii RK72 on the rocks.
Laster they spotted Kekoa foraging in the outfall. He was alone and it looks like he has a few new scratches from fighting with the other seals at the bay. Doesn't look like anything serious but worth noting.
Team R&B spotted a seal at tracks from afar. They were able to determine seal was 90% molted and it was Kawika R407 hauling out. It didn't take long for a homeless guy come out and set up to fish right next to R407. Seems he has a regular presence on the beach when the seals are there.
