11/16/2021 Tuesday Monk Seal Dailies

Todays dailies are brought to you by Team R&B💕

In the yesterdays news department I misunderstood Team T&D's comment of no photos. There was a photo of their only seal find, despite sloshing in the rain. They found BC R303 and Squinty R330 resting together.

Team R&B started today early at the bay and found a fat female laying on the rocks. It was Lei Ola RH48 looking like she is getting green again.  She must have been tired since she was still there on their afternoon check.
Nalu R3CX was out in the bay foraging. He was far out amongst the paddle boarders and kayaks, and outriggers.

When they made it out to tracks they only found R407 Kawika on his own. There were lots of footprints around him.
Ten minutes later they saw a bobbing head coming in. RN14 Kalani galumphed all the way up and was about 15 feet of R407. Kawika woke up postured to see who was there, galumphed towards RN14 and then stopped. It was cute to see him check out his buddy RN14.

Team R&B headed over and spent some time at the outfall. They were happy to see Kekoa Alii RK72 there again. He was busy foraging, getting his fill. The fishermen were impressed how he hunted his own fish and most importantly didn't steal from them.  Although they were there for a long time Kekoa never hauled out.
At one point one of the fishers pole was jamming, they nearly had a heart attack thinking the seal took the bait. BUT no, he caught a big fat rainbow runner. WHEW!

At another west side location they found RH32 Kaale. They had wondered where he was, guess he needed a break from his buddies. He's a big boy! Today they noticed he has some long lines on his belly, like cuts/scratches. Nothing serious but noticeable, maybe their are scraps from the rocks.

Team R&B kept looking heading west. They came across Da Benny RE74 on shore. It was good to see there were three signs up. The old boy has started his molt, it can be seen by his right flipper.

Further along they thought they spotted a little seal, so they headed over making the long hot walk. There was little Puka RP30 on shore alone. He is a little cutie!

Last find was another little seal spotted on shore. They made another hike out to see, and it was worth it. There on shore alone was RM31 Kai, sound a sleep.
