Todays dailies are brought to you by Tammy (who was solo today) and Team R&B💕
Tammy hiked out to Ka'ena point solo today and thankfully it was a much nicer day! She only spotted one seal today and that would be Ka'ena RO40. He is looking quite green these days. Tammy also spotted a black-footed albatross, which I know made her happy, along with the clear sunny sky, less vog and just enough of a breeze.
Team R&B headed over to the bay early and found a seal foraging off the rocky area. It was Kala RH76. There was another seal foraging further out but they could not make an ID so it was reported as an U/U. They were dolphins playing.
At another west side location they found RH32 Kaale. He was alone on the rocks snoring.
They found R407 Kawika on shore. His molt is about 45% moving right along.
Their next find was RG28 Lefty on shore. There was a zone set up, and lots of folks around. They called the hotline, unfortunately after waiting for a while no one arrived.
After leaving and heading over to another location they found Kekoa RK72 on the rocks, he was also alone. He is a big boy and getting older. Some of us remember when he was a wee pup at Reef Runway.
As always Team R&B was happy to find their beloved Benny RE74. He was in the same location but had moved from his original spot. His molt is about 55%.
While watching da Benny they saw the life guards going from person to person, running on shore to alert everyone there were sharks in the area. Team R&B watched and saw two sharks come to the shore wiggle about to eat some fish. Scary but amazing.
Team R&B were driving west when they got stopped by a construction crew to move to the side, so a tracker trailer could pass by. Anyway turned out to be a good thing since they looked around and to their surprise they saw a seal on the rocks snoozing. They tried to get an ID, but couldn't at that time. When they were on their way back they pulled over and there was the kid RM31 Kai.
Over at the cliffs they found RL42 Leia (M31s momma). Leia was on the rocks alone. It took them a bit to get her id with the glare of the sun.
They kept going along the coast and found another seal. There was RN14 Kalani on shore. Thankfully the lifeguards had put up a zone.
Team R&Bs last find of the day along with a beautiful sunset were two more seals. Lei Ola RH48 and Nalu R3CX were on the rocks snoozing together as the sunset. (how romantic :-)
