10/13/2020 Tuesday Monk Seal Dailies

Todays dailies are brought to you by Team Billand and Lesley.  Lesley's Ka'ena update is part two of the dailies.

Team Billand started at 6:15 am and found Kawika R407 at the same place he's been the last couple of days. He was alone this morning.

At 8:17 they spotted three seals by the jetty heading their way. One is a U/U and never landed. The other two were ID'd as Kaale RH32 and RH92 Nalani. They both landed by the tree, but the big dogs barked and the seals took off.  They swam out and landed briefly but then left again.  They went by some fishermen on surfboards.  Suddenly the seals disappeared and the fishers came flying on on shore. Team Billand asked what happened, and they said there was a shark.

At 9:40 They were at the jetty when they saw Kaale landed at a beach where they just came from, now

he was near Kawika. Volunteers arrrived and put out 4 signs.  Team Billand headed out at 10:40 Kaale and Kawika remained.

Team Billand found RL70 Leina at 10:50 am. They were watching out and saw a seal coming in from the Waianae direction. It came into the ride side galumphs all the way inland and went to sleep. They were able to ID RL70 Leina. Her bumps from the Vana were looking better today.  They did a recheck at 3 pm and she was still there alone. She was the only one at this location today.
