Today's dailies are brought to you by Team Billand and Lesley. Lesley's Ka'ena update is part two of the dailies. I received a message on the blog that N3 was seen this morning on the south east side by one of the divers. No photos, and no other information. N3 is one of the Rabbit Island weaners.
Team Billand found RL20 Kalua at 6:40 am snoozing alone on his rocks. He was looking very peaceful, line from his original hook was showing from right corner of his mouth. His belly looking so clean and white this morning. When they did a recheck in the afternoon he was gone.
Next find was Kawika R407 at a different west side location. He was alone and looking comfortable in
his little spot. They noticed another seal coming into the area, but kept going towards another shoreline. They watched from afar and saw the seal haul out. They hurried over to try and get a tag shot but the seal left heading towards KoOline. They were able to ID RN14 Kalani looking very green.
Team Billand then headed over to the bay and initially spotted two seals far off by the jetty, one to the right. After taking several hundred photos and sorting through they ID'd R3CX Nalu who tends to go all over the bay. He was also kind enough to show his tag and his NB on his face.
The other seal was RH48 Lei Ola formerly our green snout mystery seal. Her green snout gave her away.
A little bit later they spotted Ka'ale RH32 doing his thing stealing fish along the jetty. They could hear the fishermen yelling at him.
Then they spotted a large seal with a familar scar on its mid should area. They ID'd Aukai Rl2. She stayed mid of the bay further away.
Along with the seals in the bay the frigate came by fishing and there was even a honu hanging out.
Volunteers and NOAA were on site today, guess they were checking out the interactions at the bay although today was a slower day.
