Today's dailies are brought to you by Team Billand and Team T&D.
Team T&D met up with Lesley today and hiked Ka'ena Point. Their first find was Squinty R330 at Lymans. He finally finished his molt and according to Lesley it was a couple of days ago. He is looking very handsome in his new coat.
Next there was Lina RL98 and she looks to have started her first molt. After Lina was PvKauai RW02 at hidden beach. He on the other hand is not molting. Lastly there was Ka'ane RO40 in the main pool.
Team Billand was out at 6:15 am and found R407 Kawika way up on shore sleeping. He is about 45% molted.
At 6:32 they found Nalu R3CX across at another beach. There was no sign of any line dangling or hook
seen. They notified the hotline and NOAA.They sat with the seal to make sure his behavior was normal and it was, no thrashing. They waited for a volunteer to arrive and left the site.Just before 7:30 they spotted a seal arrive from the outfall area to the shore line, but folks were there and the seal just kept going. They got one shot of the green seal and think it may be RN14 Kalani.
At 9:30 two seals were in the outfall foraging. One was Ka'ale RH32 and the othere is reported as a U/U. Both left the area and headed out towards the beach. Team Billand left and headed over to where they thought the seal would land and sure enough when they arrived Ka'ale had already hauled out by the bath house.
A few minutes later after checking out Ka'ale they noticed another seal under the Trees. They went over and volunteers had actually put up some signs! The seal was ID'd as Aukai and people were just walk on over. Aukai turned and it looked as though she was going to leave but she moved up in between. It was good to have a volunteer there with signs.
Team Billand had checked another location just before 11 am and found Kolohe RW22 way inland again on a sand patch. He was resting and looking quite green.
Team Billand had a couple of junior sealettes with them today of course there was their grand-daughter Olivia and her cousin and new seal bud Colton. While viewing Kolohe they notices another seal up by the tocks to the left. It turned out to be the beautiful RL70 Leina.
Then there was a seal foraging and laded. This was RH76 Kala. She is looking gorgeous hook free. She rested on the right on water front rocks.
The Team had to leave and they called it a day. Shout out to the junior team Olivia and Colton!
