10/02/2020 Friday Monk Seal Dailies

Today's dailies are brought to you by Team Billand.

At 6:45 pm Team Billand spotted R407 Kawika was up on shore alone, sleeping.

At 7:05 they found Kaale at the outfall doing his thing stealing fish. He left the site about an hour later.

Kaale hauled out at the same beach as Kawika. There was one guy who was nearing the seals and asked Team Billand about them, he explained he had never seen them before. They gave him monk seal 101.

Just after 9:30 Team Billand found Kawena RH36 looking healthy and plump. Her little wound on her

left flipper is pink , and the wound on her eye is healed leaving a small scar.

Kolohe was delighted to be with Kawena and he was a gentleman, at least while Team Billand was there. He did fly to the water hole before Kawena could, and he stayed there keeping his eye on her.

RG28 Lefty stayed in his water hole forever, got out to sun himself in this heat.

RL70 Leina was in the seal inlet area, snoozing alone. She flipped over many times to adjust her position. Then she dived into the shallow pond to cool off.

The highlight of the day came just before noon. While sitting watching over the critters and waiting for any other seals sure enough one was coming in. He took his time, lifted up to see who was on the rocks. Kawena was there with Kolohe, so the seal rolled over. He slowly galumphed around the rocks to the water front rocks. Turns out this handsome dude looking very green was none other than da Benny RE74. He wasn't there long as the current took him out and they didn't see him again.
