Today's dailies are brought to you by Team Billand, Melody and Team T&D.
Team Billand did an early morning check and it was s wee bit too dark to get any IDs, but they were able to tell there were four critters out there. They watched the four seals going about mostly far out by the end of the jetty. Then they would head over to the black sail boar, and to the buoy and back. Finally they ID'd Aukai RL12 by her famous spear scar on her shoulders area and her head. They got the tag shot.
Ka'ale RH32 hung out further out, then as time passed he came closer and then back to the jetty.
Nalu R3CX was with Lei Ola RH48 by the jetty. At times there were 6 boats out there and at once in a while Nalu would look right at the guy in the boat. Lei Ola stayed with Nalu, her green face gave her away and they got a tag shot.
Some time around 7:45 all four seals went to the buoy, but the guys on the kayaks were rught there by the seals. Shortly after they split up. Volunteer showed up about 7 am, went up to the jetty to talk with the fishermen.
At 9:50 Team Billand checked out another site and found RK72 Kekoa Alii foraging doing 6 minute dives. On their second check Kekoa was on lower rocks.
Kawena RH36 was up on high rocks, sleeping and well hidden on first visit. They saw her small bleach spot on her right butt side and partial cookie scar on her side belly. On their second visit they got a tag shot.
Kawena was joined by RL70 Leina up in high rocks. She shifted her body and made her tag visible. She is a sweet little female.
At another west side location Team Billand found RN14 Kalani about 11 am. He was on the rocks and
small pond with little fish nibbling at his body. He was alone and resting peacefully.Melody was in Waikiki this morning and went to check and found Rocky RH58. She is looking good, put on some weight. Rocky left shortly after Melody arrived.
Team T&D did Ka'ena Point with Lesley today. They hit the seal jackpot with eight seals. First they found R330 Squinty and RL98 Lina side by side. On a later check they were still there but not side by side.
Next they find Napua RL40, they were all happy and surprised to see her.
Out at the point was PVKauai RW02 who still doesn't look like he's started his molt.
They hiked Keawa'ula side and spotted a big seal tucked up against some rocks. At first they couldn't get an ID but later Lesley ID'd Leia RL42.
Then there was a very green seal ID'd as Ka'ena RO40, who really needs to molt soon.
On the way out they found Kami RL74 in some unusual positions.
Lastly they saw BG R303 making it an eight seal day.
