10/25/2020 Sunday Monk Seal Dailies

Today's dailies are brought to you by Team Billand and Marilyn.

Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 11:30 to 2:10 pm. There were four seal on island today.

Alone at LPB was: Seal 1 - unidentified adult/subadult, light female belly, new coat and two tags. She started up on the berm and later moved down to the waterline. This is most likely the same U/F that has been in this location for the past 3 days. She has a very light belly for an adult. Marilyn wonders if this could be RF34 Pua or younger sister RH76 Kala.

In a group of three near the SRI: Seal 2- unidentified subadult, light male belly, new coat and two tags.

Seal 3 - unidentified adult, gray male belly, new coat and two tags. Seal 4 - unknown unknown, juvenile size, lighter belly, didn't see tags or gender. This may be the same UU as yesterday.

Team Billand went by the bay in the early morning and later in the afternoon. There were about 8 little boats, two sail boats and one fishing boat. By afternoon the place was overrun by people.

At 6 am was R3CX Nalu swimming by the jetty and out to sea by the jetty. Lei Ola RH48 hung out with Nalu most of the time. Team Billand finally got a clear shot of her tag. RH32 Kaale was hanging out mostly by the jetty, once in a while he would make his way over to Lei Ola. Nalu wasn't having it and the two boys would get into an argument and then Kaale would retreat back to the jetty. 

Team Billand took a ride to check out tracks, there is still a lot of erosion and brown water. Thankfully no seals, but a couple of surfers.  What are they thinking?

Just before 10 am they went to check another west side location and found Kalani RN14 alone. He was sleeping on the rocks. The water here is also dirty, poor critters got to swim in that crap.

They also found RG28 Lefty struggling to stay up on high mid rocks. Waves were covering him.
