Team Billand was out before 7 am. They found R407 Kawika hauled out at a west side beach. He is molting from his chest to near his lower area.
At 7:20 they found guess who stealing fish at the outfall. They captured a great shot of him eating a trumpet fish that was tossed back in the water. After he pigged out he left heading for one of the beaches. Sure enough just before 9:30 he hauled out by the bath house.
Team Billand found Kalani RN14 about 10 minutes later at a different location. He was alone snoozing.
At 11 am RW22 Kolohe was high up on shore snoozing. There were people on the beach but all were being respectable. Kolohe was alone at a different west side beach.
RH76 Kala and RL20 Kalua were both inland. RL20 Kalua was with a new hook. Team Billand called the hotline.
Kekoa Alii RK72 was on lower rocks, his tags and bumps were visible.
RL70 Leina was snoozing hidden in the high mid rocks. RL20 Kalua joined her.
So this is hook number 5 for this one year old. Whatever he is doing he better stop. Team Billand called in the hooking to the hotline with photos. He was was inland he did show signs of discomfort by thrashing his head right to left. The line was blue and white and at least 7 ft long. There was no hook visible and the line was on the left side of his mouth. Now remember he still had a hook on the right side of his mouth. He took off Team Billand notified the hotline and at 3 pm they found him with RL70 in high mid rocks. They called the hotline back to inform. Volunteers arrived and NOAA's Brenda Becker came out. She was able to cut 9 ft of line from him. He remained in the same spot undisturbed.
THANK YOU BRENDA!
