10/04/2020 Sunday Monk Seal Dailies

Today's dailies are brought to you by Team Billand, Marilyn and Lesley.  Lesley's Ka'ena update is part two of the dailies. I also posted Team Billands update from yesterday.

Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 11:55 to 1:20 today. For the second day in a row there was only one critter (which is better than no critters).  Between the 3BS and seal rock inlet there was a juvenile unidentified, although Marilyn suspects it is the same juvenile male that was there yesterday. She was able to see two tags, juvenile size, newish coat and light belly but could not determine sex.

Team Billand arrived at a westside location, people were already out and about. They spotted a seal

coming in there he was Ka'ale RH32 swimming and then hauling up on shore.  He looks good no hooks. Team Billand spent their time educating people and keeping their eye out for other seals.

At 9:25 they found Kolohe RW22 on lower rocks alone and snoozing. He went into the playboy pond to cool off.

RL70 Leina was still at her spot at the seal inlet just resting. Team Billand waited to see if other critters would show, but none did.

At 10:50 Team Billand arrived at another west side location and found Kawika R407 at the bunkers.  There were some people around, so they did their monk seal 101 lessons. They think he might be starting his molt, possible small spot on his chest/belly area.

At 11:25 they found Kaale at another location to the left on rocks snoozing.

RG28 Lefty hauled in and settled in the shallow pond.
