Team Billand spent time with Kawika R407 from 6:45 to 9:15 this morning. He was resting peacefully alone when they first arrived. They took the time and built a zone by piling sand and using keawe twigs. Sure enough the people arrive from the jetty ready to make a beach day. They seemed clueless to the zone and walked right by Kawika, who woke up and barked at them. (good boy!) If that wasn't enough the same two folks (possible tourist) walked by Kawika a second time. He leaped in the air (unfortunately there isn't a photo) and the guy backed off. Kawika settled down.
Team Billand arrived at the bay at 10:15 and stayed until 1:30. They saw R3CX Nalu foraging all over
with his green face friend. The mystery is solved! Our green face UU is RH48 Lei Ola. Which brought much joy to Team Billand. Then seal #3 was RL20 Kalua who likes hanging out by the buoy. He did come close to shore, and at one point swam pretty close to a swimmer. Not sure if the guy knew the seal was there.Kaale RH32 was at the bay but spent most of his time father out and by the jetty. Once in a while he would meet up with Lei Ola but R3CX would interfere. Then out of now where three frigate birds showed up out of no where and started diving for fish. At times they were taking fish by the jetty where the fishermen were. While watching the two seals chase a school of fish, once fish was jumping mid air. One of the birds swooped down and stole the fish from the seals. Amazing!
Between 2 and 3 pm Team Billand found Aukai RL12 up on shore. She is looking lovely and fat. She was alone today resting comfortably. There were a couple of kayakers preparing for a swim, but all of them entered the water to the left and Aukai was not disturbed.
Last check on Kawika who was still resting, but he had company. Turns out RG28 Lefty had arrived and both boys were resting peacefully no one bothering them.
