Marilyn met on the beach this morning while I was talking to some campers and documenting R330 "Squinty" and the arrival of RG40 "Holokai".
"Squinty" finally started his molt today D1.
When we came back from the NARS both had moved a little and were visible from everywhere. I stopped by several times during the afternoon to do outreach with the beach goers. As far as I know there were no incidents reported.
Hotline was called early and informed but there was no response.
Heading out to the NARS we checked every nook. We found RN58 "Luana" @ Dragon Rock Cove. She was still there on our way back.
In the NARS we saw RO40 "Ka'ena" down on the Runway. We went down to Main Beach and were doing outreach with a big group of kids and parents all in colorful clothing when I noticed I could no longer see "Ka'ena" from where I was. I let Marilyn know and we went into alert mode, his MO is to show up, in a couple of minutes there he was moving in like a torpedo to the Main Pool.
We got all away from the water line and sat up near the rocks telling the kids about him and his behavior.
"Ka'ena" made his way up to the top of the reef island, spread himself out and went to sleep.
He showed up with new scars on the left side of his neck down towards his pit scar on back 2 days ago. There are NO open wounds and maybe they will disappear when he molts.
More tomorrow
