9/17/18 Monk Seal Dailies: (part 1) RN14, U/U, RL12, RK72, RH58

Today's dailies are being brought to you by Team Billand, Melody, and Lesley. Lesley's complete is part 2 of the dailies.

Team Billand went directly out to Nimitz this morning and watched the sunrise. There were no seals so they left.
Next stop, Ka'ale's Kitchen where unfortunately he was MIA today, but there were several others hanging out. Team Billand went to the outfall after their south west check. Multiple critters were there and they were able to get positive IDs on two.
Aukai RL12 was with a green male, which is being documented as a U/M. Aukai was an easy ID, clean coat, little black spot on chin, line scar, two black round circles on the side of body and one tag shot.
Next they spot this green seal and were able to ID Kalani RN14. I guess with the multiple critters today it took some work to be able to get some of the IDs.  If Team Billand was frustrated I can only imagine what most of us would have felt.
Later in the morning they headed over to a nearby beach to see if any critters were around, and that is where they found RN14 Kalani again only this time he was resting in his water hole.

At another stop on their daily checks they spotted a seal foraging off shore. The seal was doing five minute dives but difficult to ID. After two trips to the water they finally saw a bleach number N2. Kekoa Alii RK32 was alone still foraging off shore. He never landed while they were visiting.

Melody went out to the beach early this morning and was delighted to find Rocky had spent another night. She did get back into the water early this morning and quickly grabbed a quick fish snack.
Later this afternoon Rocky returned for her sunset snooze. Apparently before she settle in for her nap she had a burst of playful monk seal energy. She was rolling around, galumphing in and out of the water and doing some peek-a-boo in the sand, this old gal hasn't forgotten how to play!  There are still no signs of a molt, and she doesn't seem at all uncomfortable. What a treat to having her hanging out.
